Xiaomi Mi A3 Specifications

The Xiaomi Mi A3 is the first smartphone in its line up to feature a Super AMOLED display. Thanks to it, the visibility under sunlight should be much better now. The screen of the Mi A3, however, has a lower resolution compared to its predecessor. Yes, it has an HD+ resolution instead of Full HD+ — this will result in a pixelated view in some instances. Moving on, there is an in-display fingerprint scanner, and the display comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

The smartphone feature three rear cameras. First is a 48MP primary unit with phase-detection autofocus. Second is an 8MP ultrawide camera, while the third is a 2MP depth sensor. The primary camera here can record 4K videos. The front-facing camera has been carried over from Redmi Y3 – it is a 32MP unit and has proven to capture excellent selfies.

Powering the Mi A3 is the Snapdragon 665 processor, which isn’t a huge step up from the Snapdragon 660 that is in the Mi A2. Anyway, this processor has eight Kryo 260 cores and Adreno 610 GPU. On the software side of things, the Mi A3 ships with Android 9 Pie, but that’s not the interesting part. The interesting part is that the Mi A3 is an Android One certified device, meaning it will receive faster software updates certified by Google.

The main issue with the Mi A1 and the Mi A2 was that they packed a smaller battery pack compared to most smartphones in their price range. Well, Xiaomi has addressed the issue, and it has equipped the Mi A3 with a larger, 4000mAh battery. The battery also supports 18W fast charging.

Another complaint with the previous A-series devices was that they lacked a microSD card slot. Xiaomi has addressed this complaint as well, and it has equipped the Mi A3 with a microSD card slot. However, it is a hybrid slot, meaning that you can either insert two SIMs or one SIM and a microSD card simultaneously.

The Mi A3 comes with all the standard connectivity options that you would expect from a smartphone of this price, such as, dual-SIM with dual-VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth v5.0, and a USB Type-C port. Oh yeah, Xiaomi has brought back the 3.5mm audio jack in the A-series with this device. Last but not least, the Mi A3 features P2i coating for water-resistance.
