Xiaomi India’s MD, Manu Kumar Jain, has put out a tweet suggesting that the brand will launch the Mi Band 4 in India on September 17. This is the same day when the brand is supposed to launch the Redmi TV in India. It is only evident that both products will launch at the same event. Anyway, the Mi Band 4 is basically a fitness tracker with few additional functionalities. The Mi Band 4 has already been launched in China. And therefore, we do know its specifications. Let us have a look at the device, and let us also discuss what it could cost in India.

Xiaomi Mi Band 4 Specifications

The Xiaomi Mi Band 4 features a 0.95-inch color AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 240 x 120 pixels. This is the first Mi Band from Xiaomi to have a color display; all other Mi Band till date had a monochrome screen. Anyway, the display is claimed to offer 400 nits of maximum brightness. There is a 2.5D glass over the screen with an anti-fingerprint coating.

The Mi Band 4 runs on a Xiaomi’s custom-developed chipset and operating system. The device has 512KB of RAM and 16MB of storage. Yes, that’s not a lot, but considering that the operating system is very basic, the RAM and storage capacities should be more than enough. There is a 135mAh battery inside, which, according to Xiaomi, can provide up to 20 days of battery backup. The Mi Band 4 has a 2Pin Pogo Pin to charge the battery. In terms of connectivity, the Mi Band 4 has Bluetooth v5.0. And when it comes to sensors, the Mi Band 4 features 3-axis accelerometer, 3-axis gyroscope, PPG heart rate sensor, and a capacitive proximity sensor.

The Mi Band can work with Android as well as iOS smartphones. The default screen of the Mi Band 4 shows you time, date, and day. There are a number of pre-loaded watch-faces to choose from. Apart from showing time, the main functionality of the Mi Band 4 is to track your activities, including walking, running, and other fitness exercises. The device is 5ATM water-resistant. Therefore, you can use it to measure your swimming activities as well. The Mi Band 4 has a vibration motor inside to alert you of the calls and notifications that you get on your smartphone. This vibration motor also allows you to set the alarm in your Mi Band 4.

What Could the Mi Band 4 Cost in India?

The Xiaomi Mi Band 4 costs CNY 169 in China, which converts to around INR 1,699. In India, however, the Mi Band 4 might cost a bit more. You can expect it to be priced somewhere between INR 1,999 and INR 2,499. And at that price point, I’d say the Mi Band 4 is better than any traditional watch, as the Mi Band 4 offers smart functionalities that will help you a lot in your day to day activities.
