As scheduled, Xiaomi has launched the Mi CC9 Pro smartphone in China today. It comes as the successor to the Mi CC9 (also known as Mi A3 in India) that was launched earlier this year. The Mi CC9 Pro focuses on photography. For which, it has a penta-camera setup at the rear. The smartphone also gets a premium design, which is quite unusual in its price range. Speaking of, here are the pricing, specifications, and availability details of the Mi CC9 Pro.
Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro: Price, Availability
Xiaomi is offering the Mi CC9 Pro in China in two memory configurations. The first variant has 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, and it costs CNY 2,799, whereas, the second variant comes with 8GB RAM + 256GB storage, and it has a price tag of CNY 3,099. There is also a Premium Edition on offer. It has an 8P lens, which, according to Xiaomi, is the first smartphone to have it. The Premium Edition has 8GB RAM + 256GB storage, and it is priced at CNY 3,499.
The Mi CC9 Pro will go on sale in China on the 11th of November through Xiaomi’s official channels. The brand hasn’t announced the international availability of the device yet. Speaking of, the Mi CC9 Pro is expected to launch as Mi Note 10 Pro in international markets.
Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro: Specifications
The highlight feature of the Mi CC9 Pro is that it has five rear cameras – a 108MP primary camera, a 5MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom, a 12MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, a 20MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. Yes, you have read it right, the Mi CC9 Pro has a 108MP primary camera sensor at the rear, which makes the Mi CC9 Pro the first smartphone in the world to feature it.
The 108MP camera uses pixel-binning to produce 27MP final image. However, you can change the setting to get a full-sized, 108MP image. Xiaomi is boasting about the image quality from the 108MP sensor. However, we can tell only once we test it out. It is a shame that the camera can’t record 4K videos at 60 frames per second. And that is most probably because of the chipset limitation, which we will talk about below. In case you are wondering why Xiaomi has put two telephoto cameras, the 12MP sensor is mainly for portrait images, whereas, the 5MP sensor is for capturing distant subjects. The selfie camera is a 32MP sensor; it is the same unit that is in the Redmi Y3.
The Mi CC9 Pro features a 6.47-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution. The display is curved on either side, which, according to Xiaomi, helps to make the device compact. The display gets 600 nits maximum brightness, full coverage of DCI-P3 color gamut, and HDR10. Unfortunately, the display has a notch, a U-shaped one. I wish Xiaomi had opted for a pop-up front-facing camera mechanism to offer a notch-less display.
The Mi CC9 Pro comes powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G chipset. This chipset is powerful enough to run all the applications and games smoothly. However, I reckon that Xiaomi hasn’t opted for the more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ SoC. The device runs on Android 9 Pie with MIUI 11. Considering that Xiaomi is updating its devices to Android 10, I think the Mi CC9 Pro will also receive the Android 10 update soon.
Another highlight feature of the Mi CC9 Pro is that it has a massive, 5260mAh battery. What is even better is that there is a 30W fast charging. You will be glad to know that the device uses USB PD fast charging protocol, instead of a custom protocol. Connectivity options include dual-SIM, 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth v5.0, USB Type-C port, and fortunately, there is 3.5mm audio jack onboard as well. The device also has an in-display fingerprint scanner.
