Xiaomi today launched its next-generation flagship smartphone under the Mix family. Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 was unveiled at a media event held in Beijing, China. Just like the previous generation of Mi Mix smartphones, the Mi Mix 3 also boasts an impressive screen-to-body-ratio. Coming to the key features of the device, Mi Mix 3 comes with a sliding camera mechanism similar to what we’ve seen on the Oppo Find X. Interestingly, it is also the first smartphone announced with 5G support but the 5G-ready variant will be available no sooner than 2019. Surprisingly, the device was already up for pre-ordering at 6 PM in China.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 Pre-order Booking Today, Clean Sweep Within Seconds in China

If you’re not aware, Xiaomi is one of the first brands that actually tried to minimize the bezels on the display with its first-gen Mi Mix smartphone. Since then numerous smartphones have come forward sharing a similar design ideology such as the Vivo Nex. As already mentioned, Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 went for pre-ordering today at 6 PM in China. The smartphone went out of stock in less than a second. Xiaomi’s official sale page of Mi Mix 3 now reads “temporarily out of stock”. The device will be up for sale for the first time on November 1. The base variant of Mi Mix 3 which sports 6GB RAM and 128GB onboard memory is priced at CNY 3299 (roughly INR 35,000). The device also comes in two more storage variants – 8GB/128GB priced at CNY 3,999 (roughly INR 42,000) and the special “Forbidden Country” edition with massive 10GB RAM and 256GB onboard memory priced at 4,999 Yuan (approx. INR 52,000).

Sadly, there are no launch offers on this device. The smartphone will be up for sale for everyone in China on November 1 at 10 AM. The brand hasn’t revealed any stats of this pre-booking as of now. Looking at the brand’s history, we’re expecting pretty decent figures. Considering the powerful specs and features, the we don’t find it surprising for the device to run out of stock for pre-orders. For now, there is no word on the Indian launch and expected pricing of the Mi Mix 3. We’re expecting this device to hit the Indian shore since the previous Mi Mix 2s is already available in the country.

Mi Mix 3 Features Impressive Screen-to-body Ratio and a Sliding Mechanism

As already mentioned, one of the key highlights of the device is its all-screen display and a sliding camera mechanism. Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 comes with a 6.39-inch Full HD+ custom AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. The device boats a screen-to-body ratio of 93.4% thanks to the all-screen display on the front. It is powered by a flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset paired with 6/8/10GB of RAM and 128/256GB of onboard memory. Coming to the optics, there is a dual camera setup at the back having 12MP + 12MP sensors. Like rear, there is a dual selfie camera setup on the front with 24MP + 2MP sensors. Other specifications include Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, NFC, USB Type-C port, 3200mAh battery (Quick Charge 4.0+) and MIUI 10 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. It also supports 10W wireless charging just like the Pixel 3 lineup.

Unlike Oppo Find X, the device does not have a motorized sliding mechanism. Instead, Xiaomi went with the manual magnetic one which is claimed by the company to offer high endurance. You can use the same sliding mechanism to capture selfie, open the shortcut drawer, take phone calls and much more. On top of that, it is customizable in a way that you can even set a different sound for it.
