When Xiaomi showcased the Mi Mix Alpha in September 2019, it was clear that this handset was a concept to showcase the company’s manufacturing prowess. The Mi Mix Alpha features a unique wraparound display. The OLED panel on this panel covers the front, back, and sides save for a single ceramic stripe that holds a camera assembly. The Chinese company has used an aerospace-grade Titanium alloy frame for sturdiness. Since the device was going to have a limited production run, the chances of it landing in India were quite slim. However, it turns Xiaomi has decided to delight its fans, at least the rich ones. The company has listed the Mi Mix Alpha on its Indian website. And has also put up a special page dedicated to this phone with the futuristic design.

Mi Mix Alpha Specifications
The highlight of this phone is its wraparound display. By the conventional means, the Mi Mix Alpha has the bragging rights to the screen-to-body ratio of over 180 percent. Xiaomi uses a 7.9-inch OLED panel to cover the majority of this phone. The screen has a resolution of 2088 x 2250 pixels. To achieve thin-bezels, the manufacturer has replaced the conventional earpiece with the bone conduction technology that propagates sound through the display glass.
The handset is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset. It is coupled with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB internal storage. With Qualcomm’s X50 modem onboard, the Mi Mix Alpha supports 5G connectivity. Other features include dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, A-GPS (network assisted), and UBS Type-C port. The phone holds a 4050 mAh battery 40 W fast-charging support. We are not sure if that will be enough to drive its large screen for hours.
Xiaomi has spared no expense for Mi Mix Alpha, as the handset is loaded with a 108 MP camera from Samsung. The company claims that the sensor offers superior low-light performance and four-axis OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) for smooth video recording. The primary sensor is accompanied by a 20 MP wide-angle lens, and a 12 MP telephoto lens. There’s no front-facing camera as you can simply flip the phone to take a selfie. The brand has tuned the software to avoid accidental touch input.
Mi Mix Alpha Pricing And Availability
In China, the Mi Mix Alpha is priced at 19,999 yuan, which roughly translates to Rs 200,000. However, since it won’t be manufactured in India, you will also have to take customs tariffs into account. The phone was supposed to hit the stores in China by the end of 2019, but Xiaomi missed that deadline. So, it is quite tricky to tell when you can expect this phone in India.
