Xiaomi offers a couple of portable Bluetooth speakers in the Indian market. However, all of them are made for indoor usage, and none of them are ideal to be taken outdoors. Well, to fill in the gap, the brand has launched the Mi Outdoor Bluetooth speaker in India today. It is priced at INR 1,399 and is currently available to purchase on Xiaomi’s official online store.
Mi Outdoor Bluetooth Speaker Design
As the name suggests, the Mi Outdoor speaker is designed specifically for outdoor usage. It has a rugged design language to withstand drops and rough handling. And more importantly, it has an IPX5 certification, which means that you can use it in a dusty environment or water without worrying about damaging the speaker. The speaker, as you might expect, has a portable form factor for you to carry it with ease. The brand, however, hasn’t revealed the dimensions and weight of the device yet.
Mi Outdoor Bluetooth Speaker Specifications
Now coming to one of the most important aspects of a Bluetooth speaker, its loudness, the Mi Outdoor speaker has a 5W maximum output power. According to the brand, the speaker has 115DB S.P.L and a frequency response of 20Hz to 20KHz. While most Bluetooth speakers feature Bluetooth v.4.2, the Mi Outdoor Speaker, surprisingly, has Bluetooth v5.0. There is a microphone onboard as well, which allows you to take calls on the speaker.
Another interesting feature is that you can access your smartphone’s voice assistant on Mi Outdoor speaker. So, you don’t have to go for your smartphone every time you need to summon your voice assistant. The speaker has dedicated power, volume increase, volume decrease, play/pause, and voice assistant/call answer/call drop buttons. Xiaomi says it has Dynamic Sound Effect but we are not sure what it is. The battery life is rated at 20 hours.
Looking at the price and the feature-set, the Mi Outdoor Bluetooth Speaker already looks like the best product in its segment. However, we can say for sure only once we review it.
