Xiaomi has finally launched the Xiaomi Mi Watch alongside the Mi CC9 Pro and the Mi TV 5 series of televisions. The first-ever Mi Watch comes with a slew of amazing features and specifications at a pretty modest price.
Xiaomi Mi watch price in China
The Xiaomi Mi Watch is kept at an asking price of Yuan 1299 in China. The company has not confirmed as to whether or not it will launch the watch globally, but if launched, the price translates to somewhere around $185 or around INR 13,000.
Moreover, the company has also introduced a more premium variant of the Mi Watch with a stainless steel body and a stainless steel strap. The standard variant has a skin-friendly Fluoro rubber which, as per the company, is anti-allergic and sweat resistant. This variant would fetch Yuan 1999 from your wallet and will go on sale in China in the month of December.
Interested buyers can pre-register for the Mi Watch starting today at 5 PM for the first sale that is set for November 11, 2019 (12 noon).
Xiaomi Mi Watch specifications and features
1. Display and design
At first glance, the Mi Watch looks strikingly similar to an Apple Watch. That said, there is a subtle difference when it comes to the design as the Mi Watch is slightly boxier when compared with the Apple Watch.
The Watch has a curved display, a ceramic bottom, and a digital crown on the right side. As far as the display is concerned, the Mi Watch features a 1.78-inch AMOLED display with a 44-mm frame. The display has a pretty solid 326PPI pixel density. The company has also confirmed that the rest of the watch is made up of ceramic. On the right side of the watch, we can see a crown that can be used to navigate through the MIUI for Watch interface. There is another button which can be used for microphone and several other functions.
2. Processor and battery
Under the hood, the Mi Watch is powered with a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 SoC which has four Cortex A7 cores and is clocked at 1.2GHz.
For calling, the Mi Watch comes with e-SIM support and has 4G connectivity.
Moving on to the battery, the Mi Watch comes equipped with a pretty big 570mAh battery which, as per the company, can last for up to 36 hours or two days on a single charge.
3. Connectivity and OS
As far as the connectivity features are concerned, the Mi Watch comes with support for NFC, Bluetooth v4.2, Wi-Fi, and GPS. One can make online payments using the Mi Watch which is a pretty neat feature (at least in China). Furthermore, the Mi Watch comes with heart-rate monitoring, sleep monitoring, and body energy monitoring.
The company decided to use its own custom MIUI for Watch skin for the Mi Watch which is actually baked on top of Google’s Wear OS only. Using the company’s custom skin also ensures that Xiaomi’s Xiao AI has also made its way to the Mi Watch. The app ecosystem is also pretty strong as the Mi Watch comes with more than 40 optimized apps.
As of now, there is no word on the global launch of the Mi Watch, but if a new leak has to be believed, a Pro variant of the Mi Watch is also in the works.
