C Manmohan, General Manager of POCO, has revealed through a tweet that the brand is rolling out a new OTA update to the POCO F1 users. We can confirm that we have received this update today on our POCO F1 review unit, and we did download and install it before covering this news.

What Does the Update Offer? When Will I Receive It?

Most significant upgrades that this update brings include 4K video recording at 60 frames per second, Widevine L1 support, and Game Turbo Mode. The update also brings many bug fixes, optimizations, and new features. You can check them out in the screenshot below. The update comes bearing the build number MIUI V10.3.4.0.PEJMIXM, and it weighs 515MB. According to C Manmohan, this is a phased rollout. So, not everyone will receive the update now. The update could roll out to all users within a week. If you haven’t received the update yet, go to settings, and manually check for the software update. Hopefully, you’ll get it. On the same note, we confirm that the brand is rolling out the update, as our POCO F1 has received it.

POCO F1 Is Now Most Affordable Smartphone to Offer 4K 60FPS Video Recording

The 4K video recording at 60 frames per second is a feature that you’ll find in only high-end smartphones. Up until now, the Asus Zenfone 5Z was the most affordable smartphone to offer 4K 60 FPS video recording. However, with this update, the POCO F1 has become the most affordable smartphone to feature 4K 60 FPS video recording. Even if Xiaomi didn’t offer 4K 60 FPS video recording, the POCO F1 would still have been the smartphone with the highest features in its price range. No one could have blamed Xiaomi for not offering 4K 60FPS video recording in the POCO F1 considering the price of the device, but still, Xiaomi decided to provide its POCO F1 customers with even more features. Great work Xiaomi, keep up!

What Is Widevine L1 Support?

In simple terms, your smartphone needs to have Widevine L1 support if you want to stream HD resolution content from Netflix on your smartphone. If your smartphone does not have Widevine L1 support, you cannot stream HD resolution videos on your smartphone from Netflix; you’ll be restricted to stream only up to 480p resolution videos.

What About Game Turbo Mode?

The Game Turbo Mode optimizes the resources of the POCO F1 (such as allocating more CPU and GPU power to the game, and freezing the other applications running in the background) to offer a better gaming experience. With the Game Turbo Mode, you should get a smoother frame rate in games. This mode also adds an overlay on top of games, which offers with shortcuts for screenshots, screen recording, clearing memory, switching between SIM cards for data usage, and other connectivity options.
