Next is the Samsung Galaxy J4 Plus, which is clearly the Korean tech giant’s earnest attempt at competing in the affordable Android segment. Finally, we have the Nokia 5.1 Plus. The Nokia 5.1 Plus is available in a single variant as well. It comes with 3GB RAM + 32GB internal memory at a price of Rs. 10,999 in India.

Needless to mention, only the Samsung smartphone sports 2GB RAM, while the rest of the devices have 3GB RAM.

The Galaxy J4 Plus comes with a 6-inch True HD+ Infinity display with a 720 x 1480 resolution and 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone features a fluid body design with a glass finishing. Incidentally, there’s no notch.

A Qualcomm MSM8917 Snapdragon 425 processor clocked at 1.4GHz and paired with Adreno 308 GPU, powers the Samsung Galaxy J4 Plus. The chipset works with rather limited 2GB of RAM and 32GB internal memory.

An octa-core 12nm MediaTek Helio P60 processor clocked at 2.0GHz and paired with a Mali-G72 MP3 GPU, powers the Nokia 5.1 Plus. Incidentally, the smartphone comes in two memory configurations in China: 3GB RAM + 32GB internal storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage. However, HMD Global has only brought the 3GB/32GB storage variant to the Indian market.

The Redmi 6 Pro features a dual 12MP primary + 5MP secondary camera unit on the back. It also has a 5MP front camera.

The Galaxy J4 Plus comes with a single 13MP rear camera unit. The smartphone gets a 5MP front-facing camera with an LED flash. Interestingly, the smartphone supports Face Unlock via the front camera, along with a standard fingerprint scanner on the side instead of the back. The combination of biometric authentication is unique for the price point.

The Nokia 5.1 Plus features a 13MP + 5MP dual rear camera setup and an 8MP front-facing camera. Both the front and rear cameras feature AI-assisted features like bokeh effect, portrait lighting, haze removal, and beauty mode.

The Galaxy J4 Plus packs a 3,300mAh battery. There’s no mention of any Fast Charging standard. The smartphone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo, and should receive at least Android 9 Pie update. The smartphone benefits from several additional features that Samsung embeds within the OS.

The Nokia 5.1 Plus sports a decent 3,060mAh battery. The smartphone runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. Since it is an Android One smartphone, the Nokia 5.1 Plus offers users a pure Android experience and assured security updates for a long time. The handset should receive Android 9 Pie update soon.

Given the specifications, the Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro is the clear winner between the three affordable Android smartphones. However, with the pure Android experience, and potent hardware, the Nokia 5.1 Plus is a great choice as well. The Samsung Galaxy J4 Plus is certainly a good attempt by Samsung, but it falls behind these handsets in nearly every department, except for the additional software features that Samsung usually blends in with the Android OS.
