Have a Redmi Note 5 Pro and still waiting for the OTA update for MIUI 10? Well, there’s no need to wait anymore, as Xiaomi has today, on September 20 officially released the download links for manual installation of the MIUI 10 Global Stable ROM for the Redmi Note 5 Pro. If you remember, we had reported last week that after the Redmi Y2, Xiaomi started rolling out the first Global Stable version of the new user interface called MIUI 10 for its popular mid-ranger Redmi Note 5 Pro in India.

Since that was an OTA (over-the-air) update, many Redmi Note 5 Pro users were waiting for it to reach their devices, as OTA updates go to devices in batches and could hence, take time. Now, you can simply download the Global Stable ROM and install it, upgrading your Redmi Note 5 Pro from MIUI 9 or MIUI 10 Beta ROM.

The MIUI 10, apart from several attractive improvements, introduces a new and improved AI Portrait mode for all primary cameras, so even if the front or rear camera has a single sensor, it will be able to take portrait images with background blur without the need for a depth sensor. The Redmi Note 5 Pro’s front camera is a solid 20MP, and this feature will only make it even more appealing.

Redmi Note 5 Pro: MIUI 10 Changelog

Xiaomi says the new MIUI 10 is designed for a full-screen experience. As you may know, the Redmi Note 5 Pro is promoted as a full-screen display phone, with 18:9 aspect ratio and thin bezels, even as it ditches the notch design. The new MIUI 10 will introduce full-screen gestures in the Redmi Note 5 Pro, replacing the three long-standing navigation buttons for ‘Back’, ‘Home’ and ‘Recent Apps’ with swipe gestures so that you get more screen space. With other related optimisations, the new MIUI 10 makes for more content on the screen of the Redmi Note 5 Pro.

Another much-promoted addition in the MIUI 10 that has made it to the Redmi Note 5 Pro is the ambient sounds feature, which work with a timer to help you wind down and fall asleep or feel peaceful, with natural sounds such as those you would hear in a forest or by a beachside playing in the background. Also, the touch and navigation sounds are nature-based and ever-changing, so that you don’t have to keep hearing the same tick-tock sounds every time you press a button or change a page.

There are also some smart filters that will keep away phone sounds when you appear to be hibernating yourself. Xiaomi has said that the new MIUI 10 is simply 10 percent faster than the outgoing MIUI 9, which itself was quite slick.
