Update: Some more specifications of the Redmi Note 6 Pro have now been confirmed, courtesy of two new leaked images. Going by the leaked spec sheet, the Redmi Note 6 Pro will be powered by a Snapdragon 636 chipset under the hood, identical to the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Two memory configurations have been revealed so far – 3GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. In terms of color options, the smartphone is tipped to be available in Black, Gold, Rose Gold, Blue, and Red colors.

The Redmi Note 5 Pro (review), which was launched in India in February this year, is one of the most popular budget Android smartphones launched by Xiaomi yet. Its successor, likely dubbed the Redmi Note 6 Pro, was recently spotted on the Wi-Fi Alliance website, hinting at an imminent launch. An alleged image of the upcoming smartphone has now surfaced online, shedding light on some of its key hardware specifications.

Redmi Note 6 Pro: Leaked Image Reveals Key Specifications

The alleged Redmi Note 6 Pro image posted on Reddit reveals some of the key specifications of the upcoming smartphone. As expected, the Redmi Note 6 Pro will feature a slightly larger display than the Redmi Note 5 Pro. If the leaked image is indeed the real deal, you can expect the Redmi Note 6 Pro to sport a 6.26-inch sized Full Screen display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. While the display resolution has not been revealed, we are fairly certain the Redmi Note 6 Pro will offer Full HD+ resolution. The 19:9 aspect ratio of the panel also suggests the smartphone might have a notch at the top.

Another area where the Redmi Note 6 Pro is expected to be a significant improvement over the current Redmi Note 5 Pro is imaging. The Redmi Note 6 Pro will feature a similar 12MP + 5MP dual-camera setup as the Redmi Note 5 Pro but the primary sensor on the upcoming model will have a larger 1.4um pixel size and Dual Pixel AF for faster autofocus speeds. For selfies as well, the Redmi Note 6 Pro will feature a dual-camera setup on the front with a 20MP primary sensor and a 2MP secondary sensor, allowing for some great portrait shots. Just like the Redmi Note 5 Pro and other recent Xiaomi smartphones, the Redmi Note 6 Pro is expected to come with a number of AI-powered features such as an AI Portrait Mode, AI Scene Detection, AI Beautify, and more. The front-facing camera will probably offer AI Face Unlock support as well.

In terms of battery life, however, the Redmi Note 6 Pro will not be much different from the current Redmi Note 5 Pro. The leaked image reveals the smartphone will feature a 4000mAh capacity battery, which is identical to the current model. Unfortunately, the rest of the smartphone’s hardware specifications remain a mystery at this point. Previous rumors had suggested that the smartphone could be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset under the hood in two memory configurations. In terms of software, the Redmi Note 6 Pro is expected to launch with Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 10 out of the box.

Redmi Note 6 Pro: Expected Launch Date

Since the Redmi Note 6 Pro has started appearing on certification websites, we can expect Xiaomi to launch the Redmi Note 6 Pro sometime in the coming weeks. Xiaomi had launched the Redmi Note 5 Pro in India before China, so we wouldn’t be surprised if the Redmi Note 6 Pro too arrives in the Indian market before China.

Redmi Note 6 Pro: Expected Price in India

Thanks to the bigger display, improved cameras, and a more powerful Snapdragon 660 chipset, the Redmi Note 6 Pro is expected to be priced slightly higher compared to its predecessor. We expect the 4GB RAM variant of the Redmi Note 6 Pro to be priced somewhere around Rs.16,000, while the 6GB RAM variant will likely be priced around Rs.18,000.
