Xiaomi and ZTE reportedly working with Samsung to launch a smartphone with a 200MP camera sensor

Samsung’s 200MP smartphone camera sensor is expected to launch later this year. It is now tipped that ZTE will launch a smartphone with a high-resolution camera lens.

According to SamMobile, Xiaomi and ZTE are already working with Samsung for their respective smartphones with the 200MP camera sensor. While a lot is not known, it is rumoured that the camera sensor has the model number S5KGND. The sensor will be 1/1.37-inch big and will come with pixel binning tech. The report states that Samsung’s 200MP sensor will support 4-in-1 and 16-in-1 pixel binning. The former will produce 50MP high-resolution camera shots, whereas the 16-in-1 binning will result in 12.5MP camera samples. It has 1.28μm pixels, smaller than the ISOCELL GN2’s 2.8μm pixels (in 4-in-1 pixel binning mode) and ISOCELL HM3’s 2.4μm pixels (in 9-in-1 pixel binning mode).

The report further mentions that the sensor will support 16K video recording. Currently, the 108MP sensor comes with an 8K video recording support. There is no word on which smartphones would feature the 200MP camera sensor. We will share more details as and when the information is available.
