While most OEMs are toying with the idea of folding screens, notches, and elevating cameras, ZTE’s sub-brand has chosen a direction of its own. The company’s upcoming flagship, which will most likely be called the Nubia X, will have a secondary screen on the back. It has now emerged that the phone will be revealed at the end of this month.

Swimming Against The Tide

Nubia’s CEO, Ni Fei, shared a teaser poster on Weibo, which shows the silhouette of a phone with the letter ‘X’ in the background and the date October 31. So, while we can’t say for sure if the phone will indeed be called the Nubia X, we now know when the phone will be unveiled. Since the date will mark the company’s sixth anniversary, we are quite certain that the announcement pertains to the flagship device.

Nubia X

The Nubia X will reportedly sport a huge 6.26-inch FHD+ LCD front screen and there would be a smaller 5.1-inch HD+ OLED panel on the back, leaving a little space at the top for the dual camera system (24MP +16MP). There is no notch on the front to house the selfie camera as the secondary screen would enable you to use the rear cameras for selfies too. However, the secondary screen will also serve other purposes beyond serving as a notification panel and camera viewfinder, as a leak had alleged that the rear screen will show full Android UI and support the Always On feature.

A Typical 2018 Flagship On The Inside

The other specifications will reportedly be in line with other 2018 flagships. It will be fueled by the Snapdragon 845 SoC, and have 6GB or 8GB of RAM, and 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. The Nubia X will pack in a 3,800mAh battery and it will apparently have dual fingerprint scanners on the sides. There has been no word on price yet but we can expect it to retail for Rs. 34,990 in India.
