The successor to the Gionee Steel 2
is the Steel 3. However, it does not promise much in terms of hardware upgrade. Similar to its predecessor, the Gionee Steel 3 sports a metal body which is capped with curved edges. The smartphone also hosts a fingerprint reader
, but the location has changed with respect to the Steel 2. The fingerprint sensor in the Steel 3 is placed at the back below the rear camera module.
Regarding software, the smartphone runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat wrapped under the proprietary Amigo 5.0 operating system out of the box.
