HTC Desire 626.
By Aakash Singh
Moto X Gen 2 is the big brother of the old Moto X. It is the latest from Motorola. Here is a full fledged analysis- 1) Design and Display- The new Moto X looks far more better than its previous model. It has got a new metal back with aluminium boundary giving it a premium look like the iPhone 6. It is slimmer, thinner and obviously better. It weighs merely 144 g and has a perfect 5.2 inch AMOLED HD screen with 1080 x 1920 pixels giving it a mind blowing 424 ppi pixel density. It comes with the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It is water resistant and has a nano SIM slot. Overall, everything is different as compared to the previous Moto X. Hence, I give 5/5. 2) Performance and RAM- It boasts Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 clubbed with 2GB RAM. It has the Adreno 330 GPU. This smells unique. It is a beast in terms of performance, much better than the Nexus 5 in terms of individual benchmark scores. You can't imagine what a Snapdragon 801 Krait 400 2.5 GHz quad-core can do. It is currently the maximum a phone has and yet apps has not been made specially for it. So, it can run any sort of app or heavy game with very much smoothness. There won't be a glitch, lag, stutter anywhere. However, a 3GB RAM would have made it unbeatable. Still, it's a beast and it will be for at least 2 years. So, I rate it 4.7/5. 3) Software- It comes preloaded with Android 5.0.1 Lollipop which is obviously upgradeable to future updates. It has no bloatware and has a pure style and pure Android expirience. It is in fact better than a Nexus 6 as it has some unique Motorola apps in-built which are very much useful. With the Lollipop update, it is just the best in the market due to overwhelming support, animations, material design, a new interface and better optimized apps and performance. "OK Google" can be said when the phone is OFF and tap to wake up is enabled. Many other unique features are included as well. So, I rate it 5/5. 4) Battery- It has a poor Li-Ion 2300 mAh battery which is not a major upgrade at such a price point. It would last max a day due to its 5.2 HD screen. So, travellers and lazy people have to run for their chargers frequently. Hence, I rate it 3.5/5. 5) Camera- It has a better 13 MP camera with 4128 x 3096 pixels, autofocus, dual-LED flash and other features. All the new apps are better like the Google Camera. It captures crisp and clear pictures and hence is a sure upgrade. Therefore, I rate it 5/5. 6) Storage- It has in-built 16/32/64 GB storage and does not support microSD card for expandable storage. Hence, it's not a plus for those who download apps, games, videos, click many photos and videos. Hence, I rate it 4/5. Verdict- It is bit expensive but according to its features, specs, design, it's a worth upgrade for those looking for a phone in a range of 25-30k. It is much better than a Nexus or an iPhone at this price. So, it is the best phone of 2014. It is the best of all. I highly recommend it. Overall, considering brand value, competition and all other factors, I rate it 4.7 out of 5.(read more)
