HTC One M8.
By Aakash Singh, 92 months ago
I am here to make you aware of some of the best smartphones today. Here is one of them- 1) Design- It is built with pure metal and aluminium and hence feels premium in hand. Due to such a great build, it is not prone to damage. Despite of such heavy metal casing, it weighs only 160 grams and is quite comfortable in hand. You get the dual speakers at the front which produce some magnificent quality music. The buttons are placed at the usual positions. It supports a nano SIM. The back side now has a dual-camera with an additional camera for better enhancements and good in depth recording. Hence, I rate it 5/5. 2) Display- It boasts a 5 inch super LCD3 Full HD screen which offers very vibrant and natural colours. The resolution is 1080 x 1920 pixels resulting in a stupendous 441 ppi pixel density. The images, lines of text appear very crisp and clear and you would not figure out colours turning while the screen rotates. It is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Overall, it is a plus. 3) Performance- On paper, it runs on the latest Snapdragon 801 Quad core processor clocked at 2.3 GHz clubbed with 2GB of RAM. With the Android 4.4.4 Kitkat(upgradable to Lollipop), it is surely a beast. It runs damn smooth while performing daily tasks and playing heavy apps or games. 2GB RAM offers good multi-tasking without any lags. 4) Storage- With internal 16GB storage expandable up to 128 GB, one cannot complain regarding limited space. You can store all your music, games, apps, downloads with no problems. It is therefore the best part I would say. 5) Software and Interface- The amount of bloatware on this phone tends to zero. The interface is very clean and unrealistically fast. The HTC M8 zips through all the tasks you throw at it. With HTC Sense UI 6.0, you have the BlinkFeed launcher for stuff you like to see like updates from Facebook, Twitter etc. Now, with Android Lollipop it is much more smooth. The new notification bar, various animations, better optimizations of apps, etc will surely provide a great user experience. This phone also features an infrared blaster at the top which is under your control. Hence, I give it 5/5. 6) Camera- It sports a dual 4MP camera with ultrapixel technovation at the back and a powerful 5MP as the secondary camera for selfie lovers. It also has nice editing features. It captures crisp, clear and colourful images even in the low light due to a dual LED flash. It is a pro for people who want a smartphone with a good camera to capture images as compared to digital cameras. 7) Battery Life- It has a non-removable Li-Po 2600 mAh battery which would last at least a day after heavy multitasking, gaming, music, video playback and other tasks. Clubbed with features like Quick Charge 2.0(Fast battery charging: 60% in 30 min), it is a great device for frequent travellers and people who hate charging their phones after few hours. So, it's a plus too. Verdict- On a whole, it has almost negligible cons except for high price. If you have that budget, you should go for it. It will not disappoint you at all. With subtle features and creative gestures like double tap to wake up, putting phone near the ears to pick up the call and much more, it is a beast at this price range. It is a good future-proof phone and I recommend it. I give it 4.8/5 on an average.(read more)

A Masterpiece by HTC.
By kshitij Gupta, 100 months ago
Pros: - Metal casing made with 90% aluminum which feels premium in the Hand. I give it a big thumbs up in this department. - A 5 inch Full HD LCD 3 display that offers very vibrant yet natural Colors. The screen is a delight to watch. - The back features a new duo-camera setup with an additional Camera for recording depth information which can later be used for editing purposes like in u-focus. - Camera offers many options including a selfie mode and it also features top notch editing options. - While the back camera is 4MP with ultrapixel technology ( in which each pixel has more light and hence results in nice pictures ) the front camera is also bumped up to 5MP. Low light imaging is great too, thanks to the dual LED flash at the back. - HTC offers a promised 2 years of Android software upgrades. While android L is still under development, HTC has already revealed that the One M8 would be receiving it within 90 days from the time HTC gets the final Android L from google. - The interface is very clean and unrealistically fast. It zips through all the tasks you give it to perform. This is very essential nowadays with the growing amount of useless features or "bloatware" that manufacturers fill the phone with. - The HTC blinkfeed launcher, your default home launcher, is the place where you can get all the stuff you like together- right from news updates to facebook, twitter etc. The blinkfeed is 'perfected' in the One M8 as compared to the M7. - The phone is powered by a snapdragon 801 quad core processor clocked at 2.5Ghz for the indian market. It comes with 2GB RAM which is more than sufficient and allows the phone to multitask easily and quickly. - It features an infrared blaster at the top with which you can control almost anything that uses IR signals including your TV and set top boxes. - The addition of a ultimate power saving mode certainly adds to the delight as it can then work for more hours when needed if low on battery. - HTC is offering an excellent dot view case with the phone which allows you to use the phone and perform certain tasks without even opening the cover. - It features an creative gesture input also. Like double tapping on the locked phone wakes it up from Standby. Picking up the phone and pressing the volume button opens the camera app. There are many other gestures. - The One m8 even has a micro-sd slot. - The 2600mAh battery lasts very long easily. - And finally it's powered by the latest Android Kitkat from google with the outstanding sense 6 UI on top of it. Cons: - The power button is located on the top of the phone making it quite difficult to use it. - The 4MP camera though is excellent but it lacks detail when you zoom a photo or try to crop it. Recording is 1080p while its competition offers 4k videos too. Though 1080p is more than sufficient. - The phone is not dust or water resistant certified. - A nano SIM is needed. - The back is non removable but I don't feel there is a need to hot swap a battery on this phone. - The phone can at times become a little slippery. Conclusion: This is a masterpiece. Most of the cons can be done over with. The power button on top is sometimes unreachable but the double tap gesture eases out the problem. The phone scores full marks in the looks department. If you don't crop your photos regularly, then this is the phone for you. It is super fast and includes some very practical and useful features. The amount of bloatware on this phone is negligible. All in all, it is a complete package. Well done HTC!! For those of you who are camera enthusiasts and the camera is a big deal for you, you can look at the Sony Xperia z2, though the One M8 clicks beautiful pictures..(read more)
