Huawei Technologies is a Chinese billion dollar company that has been making Android smartphones for over a decade. It is also one of the biggest telecommunications hardware manufacturers in the world. The brand competes with the likes of Apple and Samsung for the top smartphone maker position and thanks to the amazing devices that Huawei has launched in the last three years, its spot in the top 3 is assured. Unfortunately, last year saw a spanner tossed into the works because Huawei got hit with a spying scandal which led to its Android smartphones getting locked out of accessing Google services. One could argue that the entire incident was political, but that’s a discussion for a different day. The good news is that Huawei is still launching phones and its latest offering is the brand new budget grade Huawei Y5p. Following the Y7p and the Y6p, this new smartphone comes with a small 5.45 inch IPS LCD panel offering an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. The screen is notch and punch hole-free and has old school bezels on it. The Helio P22 chipset powering the phone takes care of the computing tasks along with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage space. You get a dedicated memory card slot so that you can expand the memory specs. The phone sports an 8MP camera on the square module on the back. For selfies and video calls, the Huawei Y5p features a 5MP front camera. The battery has a capacity of 3020mAh which means you can just about scrape through a day.
