The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system. Calling for a duel with the Apple iPad, Samsung has added a lot to the new Galaxy Tab S 8.4. The Galaxy Tab S 8.4 comes with two different system-on-chips (SoC) which include quad-core Exynos 5 Octa 5420 Cortex-A15 and Cortex-A7 clocked at 1.9 GHz and 1.3 GHz respectively with ARM Mali-T628 MP6 GPU. In terms of memory, the device has 3 GB RAM with 16GB internal memory which can further be extended to 128 GB via the microSD card slot present on the device.

Screen and Design:

The more traditional LCD display has made way for Super AMOLED. The incredible 2560 x 1600 resolution which produces pixel density of 359 PPI makes text appear sharp and high definition videos looks great. The Galaxy Tab S 8.4 does not fit all tastes in terms of colour as the device comes in only two different colour variants namely Dazzling White and Titanium Bronze. The Super AMOLED display plays its part in the weight and thickness of the device. The tablet is 6.6 mm thin and weighs 298 grams. The curved design helps the device to fit perfectly in the palm of the hands.

Camera and Multimedia:

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 comes with an 8-megapixel primary camera with autofocus and LED flash and a 2.1-megapixel secondary camera which supports Full high-definition video recording. Day-light outdoor shots are as good as indoors. On the multimedia front, the tablet supports playback of the common multimedia file formats including MP3, MP4, WAV, WMA, etc.

Software and Features:

The device runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat and sports a wide range of softwares. Taking a leaf out of the Galaxy S5, the Tab S 8.4 features a fingerprint scanner which is integrated into the home button. Users can store up to 3 prints for unlocking the device. SideSync is another important feature added on the Galaxy Tab S 8.4, it allows you to access your Galaxy S5 from the Tab screen via WI-Fi Direct. The Galaxy Tab has SideSync pre-loaded on the device but in order to utilise the feature one has to install SideSync on Galaxy S5 from Playstore. You can rotate the device if you wish to go to a full screen mode. The device does not provide resistance to dust and water and also does not feature NFC.

Battery and Connectivity:

The device is powered by a non-removable Li-Ion 4900 mAh battery. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 features Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, Infrared and microUSB 2.0 port.

This is My New Workstation!

Simply Awesome! i m using this little power station from last 6 months and trust me i don't need a laptop after using this! it has a super battery life and amazing screen quality. and also super fast i m using AutoCAD and many Web & Programming apps in this tab. n its running fast and smoother.

Samsung Tab S 8.4 is a complete device that lets users to do every kind of work on it...right from office to fun. It has a great processing speed which enables users to do multi-tasking without any glitch. it has many other outstanding editing apps and features. The tablet has a great display, which comes handy when watching a fullHD movie or playing games.

It's a slim and beautiful tablet that has a brilliant display. I have been using it for sometime and not once has any of my apps crashed or lagged, which is commendable. Even its camera is pretty cool as it is capable of taking good pictures - sometimes better than a lot of top notch phones available today.

Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is an awesome tablet, especially if you're going to be watching a lot of movies because that AMOLED display is just mind blowing, can't ever see any pixels and the colours are out of this world! Its also impressively thin and sleek and that back texture just feels very nice to hold! Battery is good enough I guess but could have been better since my friend's iPad mini runs much longer than this.

Samsung software isn't that great, but I love the features like Multi-Window. Always running into lag here and there but things have improved with an update or two. Price is one factor that held me back initially, though this was the only good 8-inch Android tablet so I went ahead. Very impressed and would seriously recommend it(read more)

tab s surely better than ipad

much much better than all ipads in battery life, display, memory,user interface, price and quality. Gadget worthy of its name(tablet) and also of it price. the only device which one would never regret after buying it and perfect for people who don't want to get bored while travelling and need a big screen to browse net, seeing movies, etc.
