Nothing appears to be preparing a wider retail expansion in India after its Bengaluru flagship store attracted more than 61,000 visitors and generated over $1.3 million in revenue within three months of opening. The figures were shared by Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis on X, where he also hinted that more Nothing stores are planned for India.
The Bengaluru store, located in Indiranagar, officially opened on February 14, 2026, and marked Nothing's first flagship retail outlet in India. According to the company, over 2,000 people visited the store on opening day. The development comes at a time when India's smartphone market has been facing slower growth. According to Counterpoint Research, smartphone shipments in India declined 3 percent year-on-year during Q1 2026 amid rising prices and weaker consumer demand. Against that backdrop, Nothing's recent momentum stands out, especially in the premium and upper mid-range smartphone segments.
Nothing Phone (4a) Demand Reportedly Exceeded Expectations
Nothing's recent growth in India has been driven largely by the Nothing Phone (4a) series. Evangelidis had previously acknowledged that demand for the smartphone exceeded internal projections, leading to supply shortages across channels including Flipkart, Croma, Reliance Digital, and Vijay Sales.
According to the company executive, units were being shipped daily from production lines, though shortages are expected to continue until at least the end of May. Unlike several smartphone brands competing primarily on pricing and specifications, Nothing has focused heavily on industrial design, branding, and ecosystem positioning. The company's transparent hardware aesthetic and Glyph lighting interface have helped it build a distinct identity among younger consumers in India's urban smartphone market.
CMF Ecosystem Expansion Continues
Nothing is also continuing to expand its ecosystem strategy through CMF by Nothing products. The company recently launched the CMF Watch 3 Pro in India, adding AI-powered fitness and health tracking features to its wearable lineup. Evangelidis described India as one of Nothing's strongest global markets, noting that both Nothing and CMF have been among the country's fastest-growing technology brands across recent quarters.
What Nothing Appears to Be Targeting
The Bengaluru flagship store suggests Nothing is investing more aggressively in offline retail and brand visibility in India rather than relying entirely on online smartphone sales. Physical retail stores also give the company more control over customer experience, product demonstrations, and ecosystem visibility across smartphones, audio devices, and wearables. With more stores now teased, Nothing appears to be betting that its design-focused branding and ecosystem approach can continue attracting younger buyers despite a broader slowdown in smartphone demand across the market.
