HMD Vibe2 5G Launches in India With Android 16, 120Hz Display, and 6,000mAh Battery

HMD has launched the HMD Vibe2 5G in India, targeting the sub-Rs. 10,000 smartphone segment with features like Android 16, a 120Hz display, a 6,000mAh battery, and a 50MP AI dual-camera setup. The smartphone will go on sale starting May 26 at 12 PM via Flipkart.

HMD Vibe2 5G Brings Android 16 and 120Hz Display to Budget Segment

HMD says the Vibe2 5G is designed around the company’s “purposeful technology” approach, combining 5G connectivity, AI-powered experiences, and the latest Android 16 software experience in the budget segment. The smartphone features a premium design with IP64-rated water and dust resistance alongside a 120Hz refresh rate display designed to deliver smoother scrolling, fluid animations, and improved touch responsiveness.

Powering the device is an octa-core 2.3GHz processor paired with Android 16. HMD says the smartphone is designed to deliver a smooth everyday smartphone experience while also focusing on long battery life through adaptive battery optimisation.

50MP AI Camera and 6,000mAh Battery Included

The HMD Vibe2 5G features a 50MP AI dual-camera setup that the company says can intelligently adapt to different lighting environments for sharper and more balanced images. On the front, the device includes an 8MP selfie camera with support for improved artificial light correction and portrait optimisation.

The smartphone also packs a 6,000mAh battery and ships with an 18W in-box charger. According to HMD, the device is designed for all-day usage with intelligent battery optimisation for connected lifestyles. The HMD Vibe2 5G will be available in Cosmic Lavender, Nordic Blue, and Peach Pink colour options.

HMD Highlights India-Focused Partnerships

HMD is also positioning the Vibe2 5G around India-focused partnerships and software experiences. The company highlighted collaborations with Sarvam AI, Sanchar Saathi, and Flipkart as part of its broader India strategy.

The Sarvam AI integration is particularly notable because it reflects growing momentum around India-first AI ecosystems and regional language-focused AI experiences. As more smartphone brands continue relying heavily on global AI platforms, partnerships with Indian AI companies like Sarvam could help create more locally relevant features and services for users in India.

At the same time, integrations involving platforms like Sanchar Saathi may raise privacy concerns for some users, depending on how device verification, fraud detection, and data handling are implemented at the system level. HMD has not disclosed how deeply Sanchar Saathi integrations function within the software experience or what specific user data may be accessed through these services, but it will be optional, as confirmed by the company during the launch.
