Motorola has launched the Edge 70 Max in India as its newest flagship smartphone, bringing top-tier hardware, a massive 7,100mAh silicon-carbon battery, flagship Snapdragon performance, and Motorola's new Qira AI experience. Starting at an effective price of Rs 49,999, the smartphone will go on sale from July 20 via Flipkart, Motorola India, and leading retail stores.
Motorola Edge 70 Max Specifications and Features
The Edge 70 Max is powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor paired with up to 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS 4.1 storage. Motorola claims the chipset delivers an AnTuTu score exceeding 3 million while offering faster CPU, GPU, and AI performance than its predecessor. A 5,500mm² vapour chamber cooling system with liquid metal thermal gel is included to maintain sustained performance during gaming and heavy workloads.
On the front is a 6.8-inch Quad HD+ (1440 x 3168 pixels) Extreme AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, 10-bit colours, 100 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut, Pantone validation, and a peak brightness of up to 7,000 nits. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i and supports Water Touch technology.
Powering the phone is a 7,100mAh silicon-carbon battery with 90W TurboPower wired charging and 25W Qi2 magnetic wireless charging. Motorola also includes 5W reverse wired charging and claims up to 58 hours of battery life on a single charge.
For photography, the Edge 70 Max features a 50MP Sony LYTIA 710 primary sensor with OIS, accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide camera with macro support and a dedicated 2-in-1 light sensor. Selfies are handled by a 32MP front camera capable of recording 4K videos. Camera features include Photo Enhancement Engine, Signature Style, Dynamic Bokeh Portrait Mode, Horizon Lock, Frame Match, Pantone Validated Colours, and Pantone SkinTone Validation.
The smartphone runs Android 16 with Hello UX and is promised to receive three years of Android OS updates and five years of security updates.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, dual SIM with eSIM support, NFC, NavIC, and USB Type-C. The device also carries IP68 and IP69 ratings, MIL-STD-810H military-grade durability certification, and features an aircraft-grade aluminium frame with Gorilla Glass 7i protection on both the front and rear.
The Edge 70 Max is the first smartphone to introduce Motorola Qira, the company's new AI platform designed to work across Motorola smartphones, Lenovo PCs, and tablets.
Qira offers AI-powered features such as Chat Mode, Creator Zone, Next Move, Catch Me Up, and Pay Attention, allowing users to summarise meetings, generate content, continue tasks across devices, and receive contextual AI suggestions. Motorola says the feature relies on a shared AI knowledge base to provide a more seamless cross-device experience. At launch, Motorola Qira will initially be available on the 12GB RAM variant, with support for the 8GB model arriving through a future software update.

Motorola is taking an aggressive approach in the sub-Rs 55,000 flagship segment. While rivals often focus on camera upgrades or slimmer designs, the Edge 70 Max brings together a flagship Snapdragon chipset, one of the largest batteries in its class, premium build quality, Qi2 magnetic wireless charging, and a high-resolution 2K AMOLED display.
The introduction of Motorola Qira also signals the brand's ambition to build a broader AI ecosystem that extends beyond smartphones. The bigger question will be whether Motorola can deliver a polished cross-device experience that genuinely competes with established ecosystems from Samsung, Apple, and Google. On paper, however, the Edge 70 Max offers one of the most feature-packed flagship experiences in its price bracket and could become a compelling option for users prioritising performance, battery life, and display quality over conventional flagship compromises.
