Nothing teases new smartphone launch in India, and also confirms no CMF phone this year

Nothing has just dropped a Pokémon post on X, hinting at an upcoming smartphone. The teaser, shared across the company’s social media channels, features a Pokémon called Blastoise. This is a familiar strategy used by Nothing, which has previously used Pokémon codenames to hint at upcoming products before their official announcement. While the company hasn’t revealed any details about the device, the teaser is widely believed to be linked to a smartphone launch.

What Could Nothing Be Planning?

Speculation is building around a new Nothing-branded smartphone, as CMF’s Akis has publicly ruled out the launch of a CMF Phone in 2026

The company hasn’t confirmed whether the teaser is linked to an entirely new device, a refresh of an existing lineup, or something else altogether. However, Evangelidis also hinted that Nothing’s smartphone launch season is “not over yet”, which means that additional announcements are still on the way.

No New CMF Phone This Year

Moreover, in a post on X, Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis said the company had been working on a successor to the CMF Phone 2 Pro. However, it ultimately decided against launching a new CMF phone this year. They said this was mostly because of rising memory costs and the inability to deliver a meaningful enough upgrade at the right price point.

So, the latest teaser is less likely to be associated with the company’s budget-focused sub-brand.
