OPPO has announced the latest ColorOS 16 August update, bringing new AI-powered creative tools, security improvements and everyday usability features to a wider range of smartphones. The update expands AI Remix Collage beyond the Reno16 series, while also introducing new widgets, enhanced security controls and improvements to the Home Screen and Notes app.
One of the biggest additions is AI Remix Collage, which allows users to turn their photos into personalised sticker sets, mood boards and collages. The feature uses Smart Cutout, customisable outline styles and layer controls, giving users more flexibility to transform their photos and create new compositions.
The August update also introduces smarter security features through Phone Manager. The system can detect and block suspicious app activity, including malicious pop-ups, abnormal power consumption and unusual attempts to control the device.
When suspicious activity is stopped, users receive real-time alerts, providing more visibility into potentially harmful app behaviour.
OPPO has added a new shortcut for clearing notification badges from the Home Screen. Users can now perform a two-finger pinch-out gesture to clear all app notification badges at once, instead of removing them individually.
The update also adds new Currency Converter widgets in 2×2 and 4×2 sizes. These widgets bring exchange rates directly to the Home Screen, making it easier to check currencies while travelling, shopping internationally or managing expenses.
The Notes app is also receiving a useful addition. Users can now draw, highlight and annotate directly on images inside Notes, allowing them to mark important details or add context to photos without switching to another application.
OPPO has also made several smaller changes to ColorOS 16. Phone Manager tools can now be customised for easier access, while the Storage Cleanup page has been reorganised with clearer categories. The update also makes hidden apps easier to access through floating windows.
ColorOS 16 August Update Compatible Devices
According to the compatibility information included in OPPO's update announcement, the ColorOS 16 August update is being rolled out in phases between August 1 and August 31.
The supported devices include the OPPO Find X9 Ultra, Find X9 Pro, Find X9s, Find X9, Find X8 Pro, Find X8, Reno16 5G, Reno15 Pro 5G and Reno15 5G.
The ColorOS 16 August update focuses less on major visual changes and more on practical AI, security and everyday usability improvements. AI Remix Collage is the most noticeable creative addition, particularly now that OPPO is expanding it beyond the Reno16 series.
The new Phone Manager protection could be more useful in day-to-day use, while the notification badge shortcut, Currency Converter widgets and image annotation tools address smaller but common smartphone tasks. The phased rollout through August also means users may receive the update at different times depending on their device and rollout stage.
