POCO M8 5G powered by Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset launched in India

POCO has officially launched its POCO M8 5G in India today, January 8, 2026. This latest addition to the M-series is a clear attempt to move the brand beyond just “raw power,” focusing instead on a premium curved display, high-end audio, and a software promise that's actually built to last. Starting at under ₹22,000, the M8 5G is gunning for users who want a phone that looks expensive and stays fast without actually clearing out their bank account.

POCO M8 5G Price, Colours, and Availability

POCO is launching the M8 5G in three distinct storage setups:

  • 6GB RAM + 128GB Storage: ₹18,999
  • 8GB RAM + 128GB Storage: ₹19,999
  • 8GB RAM + 256GB Storage: ₹21,999

The phone comes in three sleek finishes: Carbon Black, Frost Silver, and Glacial Blue. If you're looking to pick one up, the first sale kicks off on January 13 exclusively via Flipkart.

To sweeten the deal, POCO is offering a ₹2,000 instant bank discount (or a ₹2,000 exchange bonus). If you're quick, there's also an additional ₹1,000 discount for the first 12 hours of the sale, which brings the effective starting price down to a very aggressive ₹15,999. No-cost EMI options are also available for up to six months.

POCO M8 5G Specifications

The showstopper here is the 6.77-inch 3D curved AMOLED display. It isn’t just for looks, though; it features a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and an incredible peak brightness of 3,200 nits, making it one of the easiest screens to read under direct sunlight. It also includes “Wet Touch 2.0,” so you can actually use the phone with damp fingers.

Despite packing a large battery, POCO managed to keep the device remarkably thin at just 7.35mm and light at 178g. It's also surprisingly tough, carrying an IP66 rating for dust and water resistance and MIL-STD-810H military-grade certification – basically, it's built to survive the occasional drop or rain shower.

Under the hood, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 (4nm) chipset handles the heavy lifting, promising stable 5G performance and smooth multitasking. On the software side, it ships with Xiaomi HyperOS 2 (based on Android 15). The standout news here is the update policy: POCO is promising four years of Android OS upgrades and six years of security patches, a level of support that's almost unheard of at this price point.

For the shutterbugs, there is a 50MP primary camera (using the Light Fusion 400 sensor) and a 20MP selfie camera. While the setup is simple, it's optimised for social media with 4K recording and AI tools like Magic Eraser. Audio also gets a major boost with dual stereo speakers that support Dolby Atmos and a “300 per cent volume boost” mode for loud environments.

The whole package is powered by a 5,520mAh battery that supports 45W fast charging. It also features 18W reverse charging, meaning you can use your phone to top up your earbuds or a friend's device in a pinch. With its mix of flagship-style design and long-term software support, the POCO M8 5G looks like a very safe bet for anyone shopping in the sub-₹20,000 segment.
