POCO has launched the POCO M8x 5G in India, bringing a massive 7,900mAh battery, a 6.9-inch 120Hz adaptive display, and the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 Mobile Platform to the budget smartphone segment. The company claims the POCO M8x 5G is the first smartphone in India powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5.
POCO M8x 5G Specifications And Features
The biggest highlight of the POCO M8x 5G is its 7,900mAh battery, which is among the largest capacities in its segment. The phone supports 45W fast charging, with a 45W charger included in the box, and also supports 22.5W reverse charging. This allows users to charge compatible accessories or another smartphone using the M8x 5G.
POCO has also focused on durability, with the smartphone featuring an IP64 rating for protection against dust and water splashes. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, adding another layer of protection against everyday wear and tear.
The POCO M8x 5G features a large 6.9-inch display with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The panel also supports a 240Hz touch sampling rate, which should make scrolling and touch interactions more responsive, particularly during gaming and other fast-paced activities.
POCO has also included TÜV certifications for Low Blue Light, Flicker-Free, and Circadian Friendly viewing. The phone gets a leather-inspired rear finish, along with dual speakers that can deliver up to 300% volume. A side-mounted fingerprint sensor and 3.5mm headphone jack are also present.
The POCO M8x 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 Mobile Platform, built on a 4nm process. POCO says the chipset is designed to balance performance and power efficiency for everyday tasks such as app switching, social media, streaming, navigation, and casual gaming.
The smartphone comes with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, with support for storage expansion of up to 1TB. This gives users additional room for apps, photos, videos, and other content.
For photography, the POCO M8x 5G features a 50MP AI dual-camera setup with a dedicated flicker sensor. It supports Portrait mode and Dual Video, allowing users to capture footage simultaneously from the front and rear cameras. An 8MP front camera handles selfies and video calls.
On the software side, the smartphone runs Android 16 with Xiaomi HyperOS 3. It also supports Google-powered features such as Gemini and Circle to Search, along with Xiaomi Interconnectivity for integration with compatible devices in the Xiaomi ecosystem.
POCO M8x 5G Price in India, Availability
The POCO M8x 5G is available in two configurations: the 4GB + 128GB variant is priced at Rs 20,999, while the 6GB + 128GB model costs Rs 22,999. As part of the first-day launch offer, buyers can claim a Rs 2,000 coupon, bringing the effective prices down to Rs 18,999 and Rs 20,999, respectively. The smartphone also supports No-Cost EMI options starting at Rs 3,166 per month.
The POCO M8x 5G will go on sale from August 27, 2026, at 12 PM through Flipkart.
The POCO M8x 5G is clearly built around battery endurance. The 7,900mAh cell is the headline feature, but POCO has paired it with a 120Hz display, 45W charging, reverse charging, IP64 protection, Gorilla Glass 7i, and a new Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 platform.
At an effective Rs 18,999, the 4GB variant makes the phone particularly interesting for buyers who prioritise battery life and a large display. The bigger question will be whether the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 can deliver enough performance for users who expect more than basic everyday tasks. For battery-focused buyers, though, the M8x 5G looks like a compelling new option in the sub-Rs 20,000 segment.
