POVA has launched the POVA 8 Pro 5G in India, bringing a distinctive rear-panel display, a 1.5K 144Hz AMOLED screen, a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C camera, and an AI-powered call assistant to the company's latest smartphone. The phone is positioned around POVA's "Delete Normal" design philosophy and is aimed at users looking for a more distinctive smartphone experience.
Pova 8 Pro Specifications And Features
One of the biggest design highlights is the new Alive Matrix Display on the rear panel. The dot-matrix display is designed to provide utility rather than simply acting as a decorative element. It can show battery status, timers, notifications, and caller ID information, including alerts for suspected spam calls. When the phone is placed face-down, the rear display can also transition into a desk clock.
On the front, the POVA 8 Pro 5G features a 1.5K 144Hz AMOLED display. POVA says the panel is designed to offer better visibility outdoors while also providing eye-friendly dimming for use in darker environments. The combination of high resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate should also make scrolling and supported gaming experiences smoother.
For photography, the smartphone gets a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C primary camera with OIS, accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide camera. Both the front and rear cameras support 4K video recording. The camera system also includes AI-powered features such as AI Auto Zoom, which automatically frames subjects, along with 3D Photo and Motion Trail for creative photography effects.
The POVA 8 Pro 5G also places a major emphasis on AI-powered calling. The company claims it is India's first AI assistant in this segment, citing a July 2026 Techarc report. The assistant can record, transcribe, and summarise regular and WhatsApp calls in English, Hindi, Bengali, and Marathi. It can also convert conversations into actionable to-dos, organise shared documents, and prioritise contacts based on intent and payment status. POVA says the feature is designed particularly for business owners, sales leaders, and professionals handling high volumes of calls.
POVA 8 Pro 5G Price in India, Availability
The POVA 8 Pro 5G is priced at Rs 49,999 in India and will go on sale from August 21, 2026 through Flipkart and retail outlets nationwide. The launch offer includes No Cost EMI for up to 18 months, with EMIs starting at Rs 2,777 per month. Buyers can also get a Rs 3,000 instant cashback on eligible credit card, debit card, and UPI transactions, bringing the effective price down to Rs 46,999.
POVA is clearly trying to make the 8 Pro 5G stand out in a market where smartphones increasingly look alike. The Alive Matrix Display is the most visible part of that strategy, but the more interesting addition could be the AI call assistant, especially for users who regularly handle work-related calls.
The 1.5K 144Hz AMOLED panel and Sony LYTIA 700C camera also give the phone a strong hardware foundation. At an effective Rs 46,999, however, the POVA 8 Pro 5G enters a competitive price bracket, so its success will ultimately depend on how useful the rear display and AI calling features are in everyday use rather than simply how impressive they look on paper.
