realme is set to launch the realme 16 5G in India on April 2, expanding its number series lineup with a strong focus on camera innovation and AI-driven content tools.
The upcoming device introduces several camera-centric features, including what the company calls a segment-first rear selfie mirror, aimed at improving framing while using the rear camera for selfies.
Focus on Camera Innovation and Content Creation
The realme 16 5G will feature a 50MP rear camera and a 50MP front camera, both supported by Sony sensors and AI-based imaging capabilities.
The rear selfie mirror is designed to help users capture selfies using the primary camera with better accuracy. It is complemented by gesture-based controls such as a "Say Hi" trigger for automatic countdown, along with a ring flash for improved lighting in low-light conditions.
realme is also introducing LumaColor imaging technology, which aims to deliver more natural skin tones and balanced colours across different lighting scenarios.
AI and other Features
Alongside camera hardware, the realme 16 5G includes a set of AI-powered tools focused on content creation.
Features such as Vibe Master Mode offer preset tonal styles for portraits, while AI Edit Genie allows users to modify elements like hairstyles, outfits, and backgrounds through simple commands. The AI Instant Clip feature can automatically generate social media-ready videos from existing photos and clips.
These additions suggest a focus on users who rely on their smartphones for quick edits and social media content.
With this launch, realme appears to be targeting users looking for strong camera capabilities and AI-driven tools in the mid-range segment.
The emphasis is less on raw specifications and more on usability, particularly around selfies and content creation.
