Redmi Note 17 Launched in India With 8,000mAh Battery, Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, AMOLED Display Starting at Rs 24,999

Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 17 5G in India, bringing the biggest battery ever seen on a Redmi smartphone. The new mid-range offering combines an 8,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset, AMOLED display, and long-term software support in a slim 8.4mm design.

Redmi Note 17 Specifications And Features

The headline feature is its 8,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, which Xiaomi claims can deliver up to three days of typical usage on a single charge. Despite the large battery, the phone measures just 8.4mm thick. It supports 45W turbo charging with the charger included in the box and also offers 22.5W reverse wired charging. Xiaomi says the battery is TÜV certified to retain up to 80 percent of its capacity after 1,600 charging cycles.

On the front, the Redmi Note 17 features a 6.9-inch TrueColour AMOLED display with a 120Hz AdaptiveSync refresh rate, 100 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut, and up to 1,800 nits peak brightness. The display is paired with 200 percent volume stereo speakers and HydroTouch 2.0 technology, which keeps the screen responsive even with wet or oily fingers. TÜV Rheinland Eye Care certifications are also included for improved viewing comfort.

Powering the device is Qualcomm's Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 processor built on a 4nm process. The phone supports up to 16GB RAM with memory extension, expandable storage up to 2TB, and features a 10,416mm² graphite cooling system. Redmi also claims the device is engineered to deliver up to 48 months of lag-free performance.

For photography, the Redmi Note 17 offers a 50MP AI dual rear camera setup and an 8MP front-facing camera. Camera features include Night Mode, AI HDR, Dynamic Shots, AI Editor, and 2x in-sensor zoom.

The handset runs Android 16-based HyperOS 3 out of the box. Xiaomi has committed to four years of Android software updates and six years of security patches. The software experience also includes HyperIsland, Google Gemini integration, and Xiaomi's AI-powered features.

In terms of durability, the Redmi Note 17 comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection, an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance, a reinforced chassis, and HydroTouch 2.0, making it better equipped for everyday use.

Redmi Note 17 Price In India And Availability

The Redmi Note 17 comes in two storage variants. The 6GB + 128GB model carries an MRP of Rs 27,999 but will be available at an introductory price of Rs 24,999. The 8GB + 128GB variant is priced at Rs 30,999, while its introductory price is Rs 27,999. These launch prices include an instant bank discount of Rs 3,000 on SBI Card, Axis Bank, and Kotak Bank credit card and EMI transactions.

The smartphone will be available in Dark Night, Arctic Blue, and Starlight Purple colour options. Sales begin on August 13 at 12 PM IST via Xiaomi's official website, Amazon, and Xiaomi retail stores. Buyers will also receive 5TB of JioAI Cloud storage with Jio True 5G, three months of YouTube Premium Lite, and six months of Google One (200GB).

Instead of chasing flagship-grade performance, Xiaomi has centred the Redmi Note 17 around solving one of the biggest pain points for smartphone users: battery life. An 8,000mAh battery paired with a 120Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset, and an industry-leading software update promise makes it stand out in the upper mid-range segment. While its real-world performance and camera capabilities will need to be tested, the Redmi Note 17 appears to be a compelling option for users who prioritise endurance, display quality, and long-term reliability over raw benchmark numbers.
