Xiaomi has confirmed that the Redmi Turbo 5 will launch in India soon, marking the debut of the Redmi Turbo series in the country. The confirmation came through Xiaomi India's Associate Director of Marketing and PR, Sandeep Sarma, who shared the update on social media.
Alongside the announcement, Xiaomi has also updated the Redmi Turbo 5 microsite on Amazon, confirming that the smartphone will be sold through the e-commerce platform once it launches. The microsite additionally reveals the design of the upcoming handset, giving an early look at what buyers can expect.
Redmi Turbo Series Finally Arrives in India
The Redmi Turbo lineup has so far remained exclusive to China, with the Redmi Turbo 5 and Redmi Turbo 5 Max launching there earlier this year in January. With the Turbo 5 now confirmed for India, Xiaomi appears to be expanding the series globally for the first time.
Based on the teaser images, the Indian version of the Redmi Turbo 5 appears identical to the Chinese model in terms of design. The smartphone features a flat rear panel with a dual-camera setup positioned vertically in the top-left corner. The cameras are accompanied by an LED flash module, while Redmi branding is placed toward the bottom-left side of the back panel.
The teaser also confirms at least one black colour option for the Indian market. The power button and volume controls are located on the right side of the frame, while the left side appears clean.
Redmi Turbo 5 Expected Specifications
Although Xiaomi has not officially revealed the full specifications for the Indian variant yet, the device is expected to retain most of the hardware from the Chinese model.
In China, the Redmi Turbo 5 features a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1268×2756 pixels. The panel supports a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 480Hz touch sampling rate, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and peak brightness of up to 3,500 nits.
The smartphone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset built on a 4nm process. The processor is expected to position the device in the upper mid-range or affordable flagship category.
One of the standout features of the Chinese variant is its large 7,560mAh battery. The phone also supports 100W wired fast charging and 27W wired reverse charging, allowing it to charge other devices as well.
Redmi Turbo 5 Expected Pricing
Pricing details for India have not been announced yet. However, the Redmi Turbo 5 launched in China starting at CNY 2,299, which roughly converts to around Rs. 30,000.
If Xiaomi maintains similar positioning for the Indian market, the Redmi Turbo 5 could compete against upper mid-range smartphones from brands like Realme, iQOO, OnePlus, and Motorola.
What to Expect
The Redmi Turbo 5 appears to focus on combining a large battery, fast charging, and a high-refresh-rate AMOLED display in a relatively slim design. While Xiaomi has not yet confirmed the launch date, the appearance of teasers and the Amazon microsite suggests the launch may not be far away.
