Samsung has announced a special Olympic Edition of its upcoming Galaxy Z Flip7 smartphone, designed exclusively for athletes competing at the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. As a long-standing Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partner, Samsung will distribute the device to nearly 3,800 athletes across around 90 countries, positioning the foldable as a central part of the Games-time digital experience.
The Galaxy Z Flip7 Olympic Edition is aimed at supporting athletes throughout their journey, from daily life inside the Olympic Village to capturing moments during competition and medal ceremonies. One of the key highlights is the return of the Victory Selfie feature, which allows athletes to take photos directly from the podium. First introduced at Paris 2024, the feature will make its Winter Games debut at Milano Cortina 2026 and will expand to include team sport celebrations for the first time.
Samsung is also introducing a new initiative called Victory Profile, where selected athletes from nine National Olympic Committees will have curated portraits captured using the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This initiative focuses on storytelling beyond podium moments, highlighting athletes’ personalities, preparation, and journeys leading up to the Games.
At the core of the Olympic Edition is the Galaxy Z Flip7 itself, which Samsung positions as a compact, one-handed device built around Galaxy AI. The phone features a redesigned edge-to-edge FlexWindow, allowing athletes to access AI-powered tools, notifications, and updates without unfolding the device. Key capabilities include AI-assisted photo editing through Photo Assist, real-time on-device language translation via Interpreter, and personalised daily summaries through Now Brief, which surfaces reminders, schedules, and fitness-related information.
Camera performance remains a focus, with a dual rear camera setup featuring a 50-megapixel wide sensor and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens. Samsung says this setup is designed to deliver reliable results across varied lighting conditions, an important consideration for athletes capturing moments indoors, outdoors, and in fast-changing environments.
Beyond hardware, the Galaxy Z Flip7 Olympic Edition comes preloaded with a curated set of apps and services tailored for the Games. These include Athlete365 for competition updates and mental health resources, the official Olympic Games app, and Samsung’s Galaxy Athlete Card, which allows athletes to connect and interact digitally within the Olympic Village. Athletes will also receive a 100GB 5G eSIM and access to select services through Samsung Wallet, including digital passes and partner integrations.
Visually, the Olympic Edition features a distinctive design inspired by Milano Cortina 2026. Samsung has opted for a signature blue back glass paired with a gold metal frame, along with exclusive wallpapers and custom animations themed around winter sports and the Olympic spirit. The device will also ship with a clear magnet case featuring laurel motifs, reinforcing its limited-edition positioning.
Samsung says distribution of the Galaxy Z Flip7 Olympic Edition will begin at Olympic Villages across six host cities starting January 30, with on-site Samsung Open Stations offering device setup, data transfer, and technical support for athletes.
With AI-driven features, foldable form factor refinement, and deep integration into the Olympic ecosystem, the Galaxy Z Flip7 Olympic Edition reflects Samsung’s broader push to position foldables as practical, everyday devices while using global sporting events to showcase real-world use cases.
