Tecno Pova Curve 2 5G Launches With 144Hz Display And Massive 8,000mAh Battery

Tecno has expanded its Pova lineup in India with the launch of the Tecno Pova Curve 2 5G, positioning it as a feature-packed successor to last year's Pova Curve 5G. With a curved AMOLED display, a massive 8,000mAh battery, and a high refresh rate panel, the new device aims to stand out in the increasingly competitive sub-₹30,000 segment.

Tecno Pova Curve 2 5G Pricing

The Tecno Pova Curve 2 5G starts at Rs. 27,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant, while the 8GB + 256GB option is priced at Rs. 29,999. Sales begin February 20 at 12 pm via Flipkart. It is available in Storm Titanium, Melting Silver, and Mystic Purple, with launch offers including up to Rs. 3,000 in bank discounts.

Tecno Pova Curve 2 5G Specifications

From a specifications standpoint, Tecno is clearly targeting users who prioritise display and battery. The phone features a 6.78-inch full-HD+ curved AMOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate and up to 4,500 nits peak brightness. Gorilla Glass 7i protection adds durability, while the 93.18 per cent screen-to-body ratio enhances immersion. In this price bracket, a 144Hz curved AMOLED display is still relatively uncommon, giving Tecno a noticeable edge over many flat-panel competitors offering 120Hz screens.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7100 chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. Users can expand RAM virtually up to 16GB using unused storage. While the Dimensity 7100 is not positioned as a flagship-tier processor, it is capable of handling everyday multitasking, casual gaming, and media consumption comfortably. It is paired with an Arm G610 MC2 GPU, making it suitable for mid-level gaming but not necessarily for sustained high-performance sessions.

Camera hardware remains modest. The Pova Curve 2 5G features a dual rear setup led by a 50-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary unit. On the front, there is a 13-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. Compared to competitors in this segment that emphasise multiple camera lenses or higher-resolution front cameras, Tecno appears to be focusing more on core functionality rather than photography leadership.

The most striking specification is the 8,000mAh battery, one of the largest capacities currently available in mainstream smartphones. It supports 45W wired fast charging, and Tecno includes a 45W charger in the box. The company claims up to 16.4 hours of video playback, 35.7 hours of music playback, over 48 hours of calling time, and more than 1,100 hours of standby. For heavy users or gamers, this could translate into genuine two-day battery life, a rare offering even among large-battery phones.

Tecno Pova Curve 2 5G: Should you buy it?

From a brand strategy perspective, Tecno continues to differentiate itself by offering oversized batteries and high-refresh displays at aggressive price points. As competition intensifies among Chinese brands in India's mid-range 5G segment, hardware-driven differentiation is becoming a key lever.

Industry-wide, there is a growing demand for larger batteries and brighter displays as users consume more streaming content and mobile games. Tecno's move aligns with this trend, particularly as power users look beyond basic 5G connectivity and seek endurance and smoothness.

Buying guidance depends on priorities. If battery life and display fluidity are top concerns, the Pova Curve 2 5G is among the strongest options under ₹30,000. However, users prioritising camera versatility or high-end gaming performance may want to compare alternatives in the same price range. Overall, Tecno's latest offering reinforces its reputation for delivering big hardware at competitive prices – with endurance as its headline feature.
