Xiaomi has officially started teasing the Xiaomi 17 Max ahead of its expected launch later this month, confirming the device will sit above the standard Xiaomi 17 in the company's flagship lineup.
Xiaomi executive Lu Weibing described the upcoming smartphone as a "fully upgraded" version of the regular Xiaomi 17 rather than simply a larger-sized variant. Teaser images shared by the company reveal a familiar Xiaomi flagship design with slim bezels, rounded corners, and a large circular rear camera module. Xiaomi has also confirmed black, blue, and white colour options for the smartphone.
Xiaomi 17 Max Expected Specifications
While Xiaomi has not officially confirmed the full specifications yet, leaks suggest the Xiaomi 17 Max could feature:
- 6.9-inch 1.5K LTPO flat display
- 120Hz refresh rate
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset
- 8,000mAh battery
- 100W wired charging
- 50W wireless charging
The smartphone is also expected to feature a 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP-series primary camera alongside a 50-megapixel ultrawide sensor and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.
Additional leaked features include:
- Ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner
- Symmetrical dual speakers
- Advanced water resistance
- LPDDR5X RAM
- UFS 4.1 storage
The Xiaomi 17 Max is also expected to continue Xiaomi's partnership with Leica for imaging calibration and camera tuning.
Xiaomi 17 Max Could Focus on Battery and Multimedia Experience
Based on the leaks so far, the Xiaomi 17 Max appears positioned as a large-screen flagship focused heavily on battery life, multimedia consumption, and camera performance.
An 8,000mAh battery would place it significantly ahead of most current flagship smartphones from Samsung, Google, and OnePlus, which typically remain in the 5,000mAh to 5,500mAh range. At the same time, the combination of a 6.9-inch flat LTPO display, large battery, and 200MP camera system could make the device one of Xiaomi's most hardware-focused flagship phones in recent years.
Xiaomi has not yet confirmed pricing, launch date, or market availability for the Xiaomi 17 Max. If the leaked specifications prove accurate, the Xiaomi 17 Max could represent a broader shift in flagship smartphone priorities toward battery endurance and sustained multimedia performance rather than ultra-thin designs alone. However, fitting an 8,000mAh battery into a premium flagship without making the device excessively heavy will likely be one of Xiaomi's biggest engineering challenges.
