Xiaomi just expanded its premium smartphone portfolio in India with the launch of the Xiaomi 17T. The new smartphone brings back the focus on photography to the T series. It gets a periscope telephoto camera for the first time while also packing a large battery and a suite of AI features. The Xiaomi 17T will be available through Amazon, Xiaomi's online store and offline retail channels starting June 10.
Leica Cameras Take Centre Stage
The biggest upgrade on the Xiaomi 17T is its camera system. The phone features a Leica-engineered triple rear camera setup. You get a 50-megapixel primary sensor and a 5x periscope telephoto camera. This is the first time Xiaomi has brought long-range optical zoom to the T series.
Xiaomi has also added new Leica-inspired shooting modes to the phone. These include Leica Live Moment, similar to the Live Photos on iPhone, which captures moments before and after the shutter is pressed, and Leica Live Portrait, aimed at giving you more natural-looking portrait shots.
The company continues to lean heavily on its Leica partnership as smartphone brands increasingly look for ways to differentiate camera experiences beyond hardware specifications.
Xiaomi 17 Specifications
On the specifications front, the Xiaomi 17T features a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Xiaomi claims the panel can reach up to 3,500 nits peak brightness and includes TÜV Rheinland-certified eye protection features.
The phone runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra chipset along with HyperOS and comes with Google's AI-powered tools, including Gemini and Circle to Search, alongside Xiaomi's own AI features under the HyperAI branding.
Under the hood, the phone is backed by a 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery, with support for 67W fast charging.
The smartphone will be available in Black, Blue and Violet colour options.
Price and Availability
The Xiaomi 17T is priced at Rs 59,999 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant and Rs 64,999 for the 12GB + 512GB model.
As part of launch offers, you can avail of a Rs 5,000 instant bank discount, which brings down the effective starting price to Rs 54,999. Xiaomi is also offering an exchange bonus of up to Rs 5,000, although it cannot be combined with the bank offer.
