Xiaomi has confirmed key specifications of the upcoming Xiaomi 17T Pro ahead of its global debut on May 28. The company revealed that the smartphone will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset and pack a large 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery. The Xiaomi 17T Pro will launch globally alongside the standard Xiaomi 17T, while the regular 17T model is already confirmed to arrive in India on June 4.
Xiaomi 17T Pro Becomes First Xiaomi 17 Series Phone With MediaTek Flagship Chip
In a teaser shared on X, Xiaomi confirmed that the Xiaomi 17T Pro will use the flagship MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset built on a 3nm process. This makes it the first device in the Xiaomi 17 lineup to feature a MediaTek processor instead of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, which powers the rest of the Xiaomi 17 series.
The move marks a notable shift in Xiaomi's flagship strategy, especially considering the company has traditionally relied heavily on Qualcomm silicon across its premium lineup.
While Xiaomi has not yet revealed benchmark figures or detailed performance claims, the Dimensity 9500 is positioned directly against Qualcomm's latest flagship offerings and is expected to focus heavily on gaming, AI processing, and power efficiency.
7,000mAh Silicon Carbon Battery Confirmed
Xiaomi has also confirmed that the Xiaomi 17T Pro will feature a massive 7,000mAh silicon carbon battery. According to the company, the phone can deliver up to 9.5 hours of continuous video recording on a single charge.
The battery capacity itself stands out in the premium flagship segment, where most competing devices still operate between 5,000mAh and 6,000mAh capacities. Silicon carbon battery technology also allows brands to fit larger batteries without increasing thickness as aggressively as traditional lithium-ion cells.
Charging specifications, however, remain undisclosed for now.
Leica Cameras and New Colour Options Revealed
The Xiaomi 17T Pro is confirmed to feature a Leica-tuned triple rear camera setup housed inside a square-shaped camera module. Xiaomi has also teased the phone in a Deep Blue colour option, while the standard Xiaomi 17T will launch globally in at least a Violet finish.
Although Xiaomi has not revealed the full camera hardware yet, the standard Xiaomi 17T is already confirmed to feature a telephoto camera capable of up to 5x optical zoom, 10x optical-quality zoom, and 120x AI-enhanced digital zoom.
More detailed camera specifications are expected during the official launch event.
Xiaomi 17T India Launch Confirmed for June 4
While Xiaomi has not confirmed whether the Xiaomi 17T Pro will launch in India, the standard Xiaomi 17T is already scheduled to debut in the country on June 4. It will become the first Xiaomi T-series smartphone to officially launch in India in more than four years.
The phone will be sold via Amazon India.
At the moment, Xiaomi appears to be taking a phased rollout approach, with the standard model arriving first while the company evaluates whether the Pro variant makes sense for the Indian market.
MediaTek Switch Could Be Xiaomi's Most Interesting Decision Yet
The biggest talking point around the Xiaomi 17T Pro is clearly the switch from Qualcomm to MediaTek at the flagship level.
On paper, the Dimensity 9500 is expected to compete closely with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in both CPU and GPU performance. But the decision still feels significant because Xiaomi's premium lineup has historically leaned heavily toward Qualcomm branding and optimisation.
The move could be driven by multiple factors, including component costs, supply-chain strategy, thermal efficiency targets, or even an attempt to differentiate the T-series lineup more aggressively from the core Xiaomi 17 family.
The 7,000mAh battery also positions the Xiaomi 17T Pro differently from most flagship competitors. Battery endurance has increasingly become a major selling point in premium smartphones, especially as AI workloads, gaming performance, and high-refresh-rate displays continue to demand more power.
Pricing will ultimately decide how competitive the Xiaomi 17T Pro becomes globally. If Xiaomi manages aggressive pricing while retaining flagship-grade cameras, thermals, and charging speeds, the device could end up becoming one of the more interesting flagship alternatives of 2026.
