- Warner Bros. Games has revealed a new trailer for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, showcasing the upcoming Mayhem Collection DLC featuring DC's The Joker and Harley Quinn as playable characters. The DLC will introduce a new story mission, Mayhem Mode, new character outfits, vehicles and Batcave customisation items.
Joker and Harley Quinn Become Playable Characters
The new DLC puts The Joker and Harley Quinn at the centre of a new story mission. Players will take control of both characters as they orchestrate a breakout from Arkham Asylum, with each character bringing their own combat style, abilities and gadgets.
The Joker focuses on fast-paced and agile combat, using weapons including his Paintball Pelter and Boxing Glove. Harley Quinn, meanwhile, brings a more chaotic fighting style with her hammer, her hyenas Bud and Lou, and the Fun Gun loaded with Confetti and Bubblegum.
The DLC also introduces Mayhem Mode, where players can cause destruction across Gotham City as The Joker and Harley Quinn.
The new mode features time-limited Mayhem Runs, requiring players to make their way back to Amusement Mile before the clock runs out while Batman and Robin pursue them. Players can earn LEGO studs by destroying landmarks, stores and vehicles while completing different challenges.
The mode also pits players against A.R.G.U.S. Agents and Amanda Waller's Task Force X, including DC villains such as Deathstroke, Killer Croc, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, King Shark and Polka-Dot Man.
The Mayhem Collection also includes a new Sinister Pack featuring outfits inspired by DC comic books and action figures.
Batman gets The Batman Who Laughs outfit inspired by Dark Nights: Metal #2, while Robin gets the Robin King outfit. Nightwing, Batgirl, Jim Gordon and Catwoman also receive Joker-inspired outfits, with Talia al Ghul getting a Joker Earth-37 outfit.
The DLC additionally includes the Jokermobile from the Arkham Trilogy, alongside new Batcave items including The Merciless helmet, Joker Fish Aquarium, Barbatos Statue, Snake Clowns and a Long Halloween Pumpkin.
Alongside the DLC, Warner Bros. Games will release a new Absolute difficulty level as a free update for all LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight owners on September 18.
The new difficulty sits above the existing Caped Crusader and Dark Knight settings and is designed to demand greater skill, awareness and precision during combat.
Players will also be able to unlock additional Joker and Harley Quinn outfits inspired by previous Batman media, including The Dark Knight Returns and Batman: The Animated Series.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Nintendo Switch 2 Launch
The Nintendo Switch 2 version of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will launch on September 18 alongside the Mayhem Collection DLC. Both Standard and Deluxe Editions are currently available for pre-order.
The Standard and Deluxe Editions are already available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Players who own the Standard Edition can purchase the Deluxe Edition Upgrade to receive the Legacy Collection DLC and the upcoming Mayhem Collection.
The Mayhem Collection looks like a substantial expansion for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, particularly because it adds two new playable characters, a dedicated story mission and an entirely new Mayhem Mode rather than simply introducing cosmetic content.
The Joker and Harley Quinn also bring noticeably different combat styles to the game, while the Sinister Pack adds a sizeable collection of DC-inspired outfits and Batcave items. The addition of the Absolute difficulty as a free update should also give existing players a reason to return to Gotham when the DLC launches on September 18.
