Apple Hikes Mac and iPad Prices in India, And Your iPhone Could Be Next

Apple has quietly increased the prices of several Mac, iPad, HomePod and Apple TV models in India after soaring memory and storage chip costs driven by the AI boom. The revised pricing is now live on Apple's online store, while iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods prices remain unchanged for now.

Here's What Got More Expensive

  • MacBook Air: Now starts at Rs. 1,49,900, up from Rs. 1,19,900 (+Rs. 30,000)
  • MacBook Pro: Now starts at Rs. 2,39,900, up from Rs. 1,69,900 (+Rs. 70,000)
  • iPad Air (11-inch): Rs. 89,900, up from Rs. 64,900 (+Rs. 25,000)
  • iPad Pro: Rs. 1,39,900, up from Rs. 99,990 (+Rs. 39,910)
  • HomePod and HomePod mini have also received price hikes, alongside the Apple TV 4K lineup.

Why Are Prices Going Up?

Apple says the AI industry's rapid expansion has created an unprecedented demand for DRAM and NAND memory, pushing component costs to record highs. After absorbing these costs for months, the company has now passed part of the increase on to customers. This is one of Apple's biggest price revisions in recent years and shows that the AI hardware race is now affecting everyday consumer devices. If memory prices continue to remain high, iPhones may not stay untouched for long.

What's Next?

While there is  no official word that says iPhones are next but that seems to be the next logical step. Again, we don't have a clear timeline for this as well, but we feel that it might come into effect post the Prime Day Sale. So, if you have been holding off on that iPhone purchase, now might be a good time to scout for the deals and grab the best offer.
