Instagram Launches Reorder Your Grid Feature, Letting Users Rearrange Profile Posts Without Changing Timestamps

Instagram has officially introduced a new "Reorder Your Grid" feature, giving users greater control over how content appears on their profile. The update allows users to rearrange posts on their profile grid without affecting the original posting date or content itself. Users can simply tap and hold a post, select "Reorder Grid" from the menu, and drag content into their preferred position. Changes are applied instantly and become visible to anyone visiting the profile.

The feature is rolling out globally and is designed to help creators, businesses, and everyday users curate their profile appearance more freely while maintaining the integrity of their posting history.

Reorder Your Grid Gives Users Greater Control Over Profile Layout

Until now, Instagram profiles have largely been organised in reverse chronological order, with newer posts automatically appearing at the top of the grid. The new Reorder Your Grid feature changes that by allowing users to manually arrange posts in any order they choose. This means users can highlight important content, showcase their best-performing posts, organise content around a specific theme, or refresh the overall appearance of their profile without deleting and reposting older content.

Instagram says the feature is intended to help users better reflect their creative identity and make stronger first impressions for profile visitors.

Designed for Creators, Brands, and Personal Accounts

The feature is expected to be particularly useful for creators and businesses that treat their Instagram profile as a portfolio or storefront. Brands can place key campaigns at the top of their grid, photographers can organise work by theme, and creators can showcase content that best represents their style. Unlike pinned posts, which are limited in number, Reorder Your Grid provides flexibility across the entire profile layout, allowing users to customise how content is presented while keeping engagement metrics, timestamps, and original post details unchanged.

Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri also confirmed the rollout in a recent post, highlighting the company's continued focus on giving users more creative control over their profiles.

Instagram Continues Building Profile-Centric Tools

The launch reflects Instagram's broader effort to provide users with more profile customisation options. Over the past few years, the platform has introduced features such as pinned posts, enhanced profile controls, Story Highlights, and profile customisation tools aimed at helping users shape how they are discovered.

With Reorder Your Grid, Instagram is acknowledging that profiles have become more than just archives of posts. For many creators and businesses, the profile serves as a digital portfolio, making presentation and organisation increasingly important. While the feature does not affect how content is distributed in feeds or recommended through Instagram's algorithms, it gives users a new way to control how their content is displayed when someone visits their profile.

The rollout is now underway globally and will become available to eligible users over the coming weeks.
