Meta has announced Instagram Plus, a new optional subscription that brings exclusive features focused on self-expression, deeper connections, and profile customisation. The company says Instagram Plus is rolling out globally starting today, while the core Instagram experience will remain free and unchanged.
Story Spotlight, Super Hearts, and Extended Stories Aim to Boost Connections
Instagram Plus introduces a range of features designed to help users interact more closely with friends and followers. Story Spotlight gives users' stories priority placement among their friends, while Super Hearts allow users to send animated hearts that burst across the screen when reacting to stories.
Subscribers will also gain access to Multiple Story Audiences, enabling the creation of unlimited audience lists for more personalised sharing. Story Extend allows stories to remain visible for 48 hours instead of the standard 24-hour period.
New Insights Features Offer More Visibility Into Story Engagement
Instagram Plus also adds several tools aimed at helping users better understand how their content is performing. Story Preview allows users to preview stories without immediately reacting to them, while Story Rewatch Insights reveals how many times a story has been rewatched.
Another addition is Search Viewer List, which lets users quickly check whether a specific person has viewed their story. Meta says these features are designed to provide deeper insights into audience engagement.
Customisation Features Include App Icons, Bio Fonts, and Additional Profile Pins
Instagram Plus subscribers will also be able to personalise the app experience through several customisation options. These include Custom App Icons designed by Instagram and selected creators, Custom Bio Fonts, and the ability to pin up to six posts on their profile.
The subscription also introduces Post Directly to Profile, allowing users to publish content to their profile or highlights without it appearing in friends' feeds.
