Meta One Subscription Service Launched in India Starting at Rs 79 Per Month

Meta has introduced Meta One, a new subscription service designed to offer additional features and higher AI usage across its apps. The service brings together enhanced expression tools, expanded access to Meta AI and professional features for creators and businesses, while the core experience across Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Meta AI will continue to remain free.

Meta One is launching with more than 50 features across Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Meta AI. The company says its subscription plans are rolling out gradually, with more than 15 million subscriptions and trials recorded to date across its subscription offerings.

Meta One Brings More AI Features and Creative Tools

Meta One expands on the company's existing individual subscriptions, including Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus and WhatsApp Plus. The new bundled plans combine these features with greater access to some of Meta's more compute-intensive AI capabilities. Subscribers to the Core and Premium plans will get increased access to AI-powered image and video generation through Meta AI, along with image editing and creative tools such as Restyle on Instagram. Meta says more than half of subscribers in early testing used both AI and expression features, with tools such as Restyle and Instagram voice effects among the main reasons for subscribing.

Meta AI itself will continue to be available for everyday use without a subscription. The paid plans are instead aimed at users who want higher usage limits and more creative capabilities.

Meta One's individual plans build on the existing paid offerings for its individual apps. Instagram Plus adds features such as custom DM and Story fonts, notifications when selected people view a Story and DM previews. Facebook Plus offers Messenger customisation, additional Reels insights and expanded super reactions. WhatsApp Plus includes exclusive themes and icons, special-effect stickers and the ability to pin more chats, with additional features such as chat and media backup storage and Focus Schedules planned for testing.

Meta One Core and Premium Plans

For users who want more extensive access to Meta's AI tools, the company has introduced Core and Premium bundles. Subscribers can Restyle more Instagram Stories, use voice effects and other creative tools more frequently, and generate more images and videos through Meta AI.  The Premium plan includes everything in Core, while providing the highest level of access to Meta AI and its creative capabilities among the individual-focused plans.

Meta is also targeting creators and businesses with dedicated Meta One plans. These subscriptions are designed to bring professional tools directly into the apps where creators and businesses already interact with their audiences and customers. The service includes an enhanced profile that can showcase a website, locations and customer feedback, along with a more prominent follow button on Reels and automatic follow invitations for people who engage with content. Businesses also get greater access to Meta Business Agent, allowing them to respond to customers around the clock.

Meta also plans to bring Edits Plus to Meta One. The upcoming offering will provide additional cloud storage for syncing projects across devices, along with increased access to the Edits assistant, which can analyse Instagram insights and help users brainstorm content ideas.

The Essential plan includes tools for building a presence, greater access to Meta Business Agent on WhatsApp, a verified badge, a verified WhatsApp Business channel and impersonation protection, subject to successful verification. The Advanced plan adds professional publishing and analytics tools. These include scheduling Stories up to 30 days in advance, adding links to organic posts and Reels, exportable analytics and deeper audience insights. Businesses can also give team members account access without sharing passwords, use more linked devices and receive additional WhatsApp broadcast credits.

For larger teams and businesses, Meta is offering Expert and Max plans which provide the highest levels of feature access and Meta Business Agent capacity for teams operating at scale.

Meta One Price in India and Availability

Meta One plans are now available globally, with India pricing starting at Rs 79 per month for individual single-product subscriptions, Rs 549 per month for individual AI bundles and Rs 639 per month for creator and business bundles.

The complete pricing structure includes Instagram Plus at Rs 99, WhatsApp Plus at Rs 79 and Facebook Plus at Rs 99 per month. Core costs Rs 549, Premium Rs 1,950, Essential starts at Rs 639, Advanced at Rs 2,099, Expert at Rs 6,399 and Max at Rs 20,990 per month. Meta notes that plans, benefits, pricing and availability can vary depending on the region, app and account.

Meta One represents a bigger shift in how Meta is approaching subscriptions. Instead of putting the basic experience behind a paywall, the company is keeping its core apps and Meta AI free while charging users for higher AI usage, additional creative tools and professional features.

For regular users, the Rs 79 and Rs 99 single-app plans are the easiest entry point, while Core at Rs 549 could appeal to users who actively use Meta's AI and creative tools. The business plans are a different proposition altogether, with features such as analytics, scheduling, verification and Meta Business Agent aimed at people who rely on Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp for their work.

The interesting part will be whether users see enough value in paying for higher AI limits and additional features when the basic Meta experience remains free.
