The new era of gaming laptops may be imminent, as portable devices featuring the RTX 50-series have started to appear on the market. Among this initial batch of powerful laptops is the all-new HP OMEN 16, which bridges the gap between high performance, impressive personalisation, and remarkable thermal management.
The brand hasn’t disclosed the exact processor powering this HP gaming laptop, but hinted it could feature either the latest Intel Core Ultra or AMD Ryzen AI series. Moreover, it states that the machine supports up to 170W of TDP, ensuring users have sufficient processing power to run demanding applications with ease.
On a side note, potential buyers can expect to achieve built-in AI capabilities that adapt to evolving needs in gaming and productivity, considering that the HP Omen 16 is likely to come with the latest NPU-enabled processors.
With that out of the way, let’s turn our attention to another substantial part of this upcoming laptop: the GPU. It is revealed to be equipped with the Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti GPU, featuring 12 GB of VRAM. Given the GPU specifications and its TGP of 115W, it appears that gamers will be presented with graphical power sufficient to comfortably enjoy modern AAA titles, such as Alan Wake 2 or Cyberpunk 2077.
To maintain peak performance for longer, the HP Omen 16 will feature a robust cooling system. Even more impressive is the fact that the fans can operate in reverse, enabling them to remove dust. As the dust is prevented from collecting around the vents, the thermal management system can become more efficient in reducing the overall temperature.
Opening the lid of the laptop will greet you with a 16-inch QHD (2560×1600) IPS display that supports a 240Hz refresh rate. Due to its 100% sRGB coverage, creators can use this screen to edit their work accurately without needing a second monitor.

As HP is committed to a sustainable future, it has utilised ocean-bound plastics in the speaker enclosure and bezel. Additionally, it has opted for post-consumer recycled plastic in keyboard keycaps and scissors. This way, the HP Omen 16 brings a net positive impact on the environment.
However, if we focus solely on its aesthetic appearance on paper, I am glad that it doesn’t scream gamer. Instead, this laptop is characterised by a functional design language. So wherever someone heads to either a quaint coffee shop or a typical meeting room, the HP Omen 16 can seamlessly blend in with other laptops already there.
Where Exactly Does the HP Omen 16 Fit in the Bigger Picture?
Among the sea of gaming laptops, the RTX 50-series enabled machines are still a rarity. Still, HP has managed to do something thoughtful: making the RTX 5070 Ti somewhat more accessible by introducing the Omen 16 at a starting price of Rs 1,29,999. Due to its price tag, it has been placed in direct competition with reputed gaming laptops like the Asus TUF Gaming A14, powered by the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 GPU.

When compared to the latter in GPU capability, the HP Omen 16 feels like a clear winner for gamers. The Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti GPU is said to deliver significant performance improvements over the Nvidia RTX 4060.
Moreover, increased VRAM makes it more future-proof for upcoming graphically demanding games. If that wasn’t enough, the HP gaming beast supports the DLSS 4 feature, thanks to its exclusivity with the RTX 50 series GPU. So, users can expect high FPS, improved visual quality, and better ray tracing capabilities.
