To give a glimpse of the adoption, Samsung recently shared that 70% of Galaxy S25 users are now actively using Galaxy AI features. The rollout of the latest Galaxy Z series, complete with One UI 8, has only added fuel to the fire, putting advanced AI tools in more hands. Some features are clearly leading the charge. Photo Assist, which assists users in editing images directly in the Gallery app using AI tools, has seen usage nearly double among Galaxy S25 owners compared to the previous generation. Audio Eraser, which removes background noise from videos, is another useful feature that offers a simple fix for one of the most common pain points in mobile content.
While the flagship smartphones will continue to be the primary recipients of AI features, Samsung is also making some of these some of the features available in its affordable phones. It is little wonder that the company aims to have Galaxy AI features on 400 million devices worldwide by the end of 2025.
It seems like the recently launched Galaxy A17 5G is one of the many devices to offer AI features at an affordable price point. From its very launch, it gave the early hint of Samsung’s lofty intent before this announcement.
Samsung Galaxy A17 5G Packs In Circle to Search, Gemini Live and More
The South Korean tech behemoth, in collaboration with Google, has integrated several Gemini-powered features into the Galaxy A17 5G, while the full suite of AI may not be available, but it does give users an entry point into this new dimension. The first on this list is the Circle to Search, which is undoubtedly a lifesaver for those who love shopping.

Decades ago, we had to spend hours scrutinising each frame of a video to catch a glimpse of a stylish fashion piece worn by our favourite superstar, so we could buy one for ourselves. Now, a simple circle gesture on the display instantly brings up the search and helps us find the one we are looking for within a few seconds. However, it does not end at that; it is a great tool for people to search and find things they are curious about.
Furthermore, this Galaxy A series also includes the Gemini Live feature. With this, we can initiate a conversation with Gemini and clear our doubts in the language we are comfortable with.

Interestingly, no cap is placed on the doubts we dispel with the AI Assistant, until and unless a malicious intent is hidden in our questions.
Setting these features aside, Samsung has added another essential feature to the Galaxy A17 that will benefit millions of Indians. The feature I am referring to is On-device Voicemail. With this service, anyone can effortlessly catch up on important information even if they missed the call.

What’s great about this feature is that it stores all the recordings locally on the device, and no one needs to deal with their telecom carriers to get it enabled on their smartphone. We have been using this feature on the phone, and we feel that this is a great addition at this price point.
All these features make the Galaxy A17 5G ideal for elderly users who appreciate Samsung’s familiarity without compromising on AI-powered functionalities. Given that this Galaxy A-series smartphone supports six years of software updates and security patches, it stands as a future-proof companion that can comfortably serve its owner well into the next decade. Who knows, with the subsequent few updates, Samsung may introduce more quality-of-life AI features on this device, considering its goal of making AI features accessible to people from all walks of life.
