POCO M7 Plus 5G Packs a 144Hz Display and Huge Battery, All While Staying Easy on the Pocket

If there’s one thing we know about the Indian market, it’s that people love a good deal. While budget-friendly phones are the obvious choice for many, no one’s willing to compromise on performance or the basics that matter most. That’s where POCO’s M-series has been winning hearts, offering reliable performance and useful features without making wallets cry.

This year, the spotlight is on the new M7 Plus 5G. With its spacious 6.9-inch display and an enormous 7,000mAh battery, it’s built for people who hate running for the charger. And the best part is that it still stays comfortably within the sub-Rs 15,000 bracket.

POCO M7 Plus 5G: A Closer Look at What’s Inside

The POCO M7 Plus 5G isn’t just about its huge display and massive battery. Under the hood, it’s running Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 3, which promises smooth, all-day performance. I haven’t tested it enough to confirm that yet, but I’ll be putting it through its paces soon to see if it lives up to the claim. On paper, it should hit around 6.5 lakh points on AnTuTu, but real-world results depend on how well the chip is tuned for the phone. That’s something I’ll be keeping an eye on.

The battery is another highlight. It’s a silicone carbon unit built to last 1,600 charge cycles while holding up to 80% capacity even after four years. Additionally, with 18W reverse charging into the mix, it doubles up as a power bank for your other devices.

The FHD+ display with a 144Hz refresh rate should make scrolling, gaming, and everyday use feel extra smooth.

Software support is decent too, with POCO promising two years of OS updates and four years of security patches. For this price range, that’s a solid deal.

It’s built to handle daily wear as well because of its IP64 dust and water resistance. The matte-finish grid design also gives it a nice, premium touch.

Camera-wise, there’s a 50MP AI rear sensor that promises crisp and detailed shots in all kinds of lighting. I’ll still need to test it thoroughly before giving a verdict, but the early signs are promising.

POCO M7 Plus 5G Compared to Its Predecessor

If we take a quick trip down memory lane, the POCO M6 Plus 5G came with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 AE chip, a 5,030mAh battery, and a noticeably smaller display than what we’re getting now. It also had a 108MP main camera on the back, a feature POCO has quietly stepped away from in the new M7 Plus 5G.

Beyond that, almost everything else feels like a step up. The hardware has been polished, the performance promises more, and the design has had a complete makeover. It’s clear POCO is now putting equal weight on style and substance.

Looking purely at the spec sheet, the M7 Plus 5G comes across as a more capable device than its predecessor, and that’s something you can’t ignore when you’re shopping for a new phone.

The M7 Plus 5G will be up for grabs exclusively on Flipkart starting 19th August. The 6GB RAM with 128GB storage variant is priced at Rs 12,999, while the 8GB RAM version with the same storage will cost Rs 13,999. Just remember, these prices are for a limited time.

Where Does It Belong in the Budget Smartphone Market?

Under Rs 15,000, the competition is fierce. You’ve got phones like the Tecno Pova 7 5G, iQOO Z10x, Vivo T4x, POCO M7 Pro, and Infinix Hot 50 5G, to name just a few. There are plenty more fighting for attention in this space.

POCO has always been about giving you solid performance, eye-catching designs, and a phone that feels balanced for everyday use. The M7 Plus 5G delivers on most of that, but the camera setup does take a step back compared to some rivals. If clicking great photos is high on your list, the Vivo T4x might be a better fit.

But if you care more about a phone that runs fast, lasts long, and looks great while doing it, the POCO M7 Plus 5G is hard to ignore. We’ll be putting it through our extreme tests soon to see how it holds up in real life, so keep an eye out for the detailed review.
