Vivo has launched its latest V-series smartphone in India, the Vivo V60. The V-series has built a reputation for stylish designs and impressive camera performance. The Vivo V60, however, feels like a departure from what we have seen so far. The design language has evolved significantly, especially the camera island, which looks much better in person. In fact, it instantly reminded me of my primary device, the iPhone 16 Plus.
On the camera front, the V60 comes with a 50MP ZEISS OIS main camera, an 8MP ZEISS ultra-wide camera and a 50MP ZEISS telephoto camera. The ZEISS branding alone speaks volumes about Vivo’s focus on advanced imaging this time. But is that all there is to it? At a starting price of Rs 36,999 in India, can it deliver more than just great cameras? I have not used the device yet, but I have seen it up close, and here is how I think it could perform in the sub-Rs 40,000 segment.
Vivo’s Lens-Driven Legacy
Vivo has always had a soft spot for cameras, and this year is no different. With the newly launched X200 FE and X Fold5, the brand has shown just how far its partnership with ZEISS can go. The results are impressive, with the ZEISS integration not only refining image quality but also streamlining the process of capturing those perfect shots.
When the Vivo V50 arrived last year, it came with ZEISS technology across every lens, front and back. This year, Vivo has taken a slightly different route by lowering the ultra-wide resolution to 8MP but adding a 50MP telephoto camera that offers up to 3x optical zoom.
It’s clear that Vivo believes in giving photographers, both casual and serious, plenty of tools to play with. The X200 series follows that same philosophy, only with an even higher megapixel count. To me, this shows that Vivo is not just interested in keeping up with the competition but is committed to building on its camera-focused legacy.
Finally, a Design That Feels New Again
Vivo has been sticking to a familiar design language for almost three generations now. The Vivo V30 shared the same camera setup and overall look as the Vivo V40, except for its square-shaped camera module. The Vivo V40 and last year’s V50, on the other hand, could easily be mistaken for each other.
This year, the change is quite noticeable. The redesigned camera island gives the V60 a fresh look and makes it feel new again. It even reminds me a little of the recently launched X200 FE. It looks like Vivo is finally starting to shift its design approach, focusing more on making devices that not only perform well but also stand out visually from what we’ve been used to seeing.
Getting to Know the Vivo V60 in Detail
The Vivo V60 comes in three colours: Auspicious Gold, Moonlit Blue, and Mist Gray. Out of the three, the Auspicious Gold instantly caught my attention. It has that premium, slightly bold look than the other colour variants, according to me.
The front features a 6.77-inch AMOLED display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. It is crisp, vibrant, and with a peak brightness of 5,000 nits, there’s no need to squint even when you step outside under glaring sunlight.
It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 SoC. Vivo claims it will be smooth and reliable, and while casual scrolling and messaging are effortless, I am curious to see how it handles heavier tasks like video editing on the go, long BGMI matches, or clicking hundreds of photos in one session. The variant with 16GB RAM is especially appealing for multitasking. The battery is a massive 6,500mAh with 90W FlashCharge. That means you will barely have time to make coffee before it is charged, and it can comfortably get through a day, possibly two, without hunting for a charger.
It is also built to last with IP68 and IP69 ratings, which means it can survive heavy rain, dust, and even high-pressure water sprays. This makes it a solid choice for monsoon adventures or accidental kitchen splashes.
On the software side, Vivo has added AI features like AI Four Season Portrait and AI Image Expander, along with tools for calls and spam protection. It also comes with Google Gemini pre-installed. For those who do not replace their phones often, Vivo promises four years of Android updates and six years of security patches, which makes this a device you can hold on to for a good while without feeling outdated.
How Does the Value Proposition Stack Up Against Rivals?
The Vivo V60 starts at Rs 36,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage version. If you need more space, the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage option is priced at Rs 38,999, while the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model will set you back Rs 40,999. For those who want the absolute top-end experience, there is a 16GB RAM and 512GB storage variant available for Rs 45,999 in India. Compared to last year’s Vivo V50, the V60 asks for about Rs 2,000 more, which feels fair considering the upgrades on offer.
This places the V60 in the sub-Rs 40,000 category, which is already packed with strong contenders like the OnePlus 13R, Realme GT 7, and OPPO Reno 14. The OnePlus 13R and Realme GT 7 stand out for being well-rounded in almost every department, making them solid choices for anyone seeking a balanced smartphone experience. The Vivo V60, however, takes a different approach by focusing heavily on design and camera performance. Interestingly, the OPPO Reno 14 offers a similar camera setup to the V60, but costs Rs 1,000 more.
The truth is, while many smartphones in this price bracket aim to be all-rounders, the Vivo V60 really excels in only two areas: design and cameras. I still need to put it through real-world testing to see how it performs in day-to-day use and how its battery holds up. From what I can tell so far, it may not match the all-around capability of the OnePlus 13R or Realme GT 7 in this segment.

If your priority is owning a phone with outstanding camera performance, the Vivo V60 could be the right pick for you, although it does come with a slightly premium price tag. On the bright side, Vivo is offering up to a 10% instant bank discount on select HDFC Bank and Axis Bank cards, or up to a 10% exchange bonus. The device goes on sale starting August 19 through Vivo’s official website, Flipkart, Amazon, and partner retail stores.
That said, I would still suggest holding off for a bit before making your purchase. I will be reviewing the V60 in detail soon, so keep an eye on MySmartPrice to make sure you get the full picture before deciding.
