After a brief hiatus, OPPO has re-introduced its Find series in India with the X8 and X8 Pro marking its territory taking battery and cameras as its warriors. With a quad-50-megapixel camera squad at the back and crazy zoom capabilities, it looks to take the fight directly to the big guns from Samsung, Apple, and Vivo.
The Find X8 Pro is filled to the brim with interesting specifications, but it also carries a high price tag of Rs 99,999. With a heavy focus on photography and videography, is the Find X8 Pro going to be the de-facto choice? I have been using the phone for about a month, here are my thoughts.
Pricing and Availability in India
The Find X8 Pro is available in a single variant on Flipkart and OPPO Store. There are multiple credit and debit card offers available via the former, so make sure you check them out before splurging.
Variant | Price in India |
16GB RAM + 512GB | Rs 99,999 |
Design and Display
With unique patterns and marble-like glass texture on the back, the Find X8 Pro has a distinctive look, helping it stand out. It’s also a great conversation starter, as passersby in airports have asked me about the phone. That said, the tuxedo look of the Find X7 Ultra still takes the crown. But this finish also has its advantages. It’s smudge and dust-free, so you don’t have to spend half the day wiping the back panel. Ergonomics have been taken care of by the rounded corners and blunt frames.

The gigantic camera module at the back is hard to miss. Despite this, the phone does not feel top-heavy or bulky in general. It protrudes but does not cause table wobbles. The serrated edges around the are my favourite fidget toy, but its inclusion is to make the module appear more like a camera lens.
The alert slider and IR blaster are two underrated features that deserve a shoutout. The former makes life much easier when you are about to sit for a meeting and your friends are spamming unrealistic football tactics on WhatsApp.
A new addition to the X8 Pro is a ‘Quick Button’. It’s inspired by Apple’s camera control but has untapped potential. It’s a capacitive area, so it responds to touch with a light haptic feedback. This is a more intuitive version when compared to Apple’s — especially when zooming into things. But, that’s also its limitation.
As of now, you can use it to enter the camera app; take burst photos, normal photos or zoom in and out. But support for the latter is missing in the portrait orientation. This is a pain point because most of the photos clicked for Instagram are taken vertically. It does not allow you to switch between modes as well, which is a missed opportunity. That said, the inclusion of this button has spoilt me (for good) because of how easy and fast it gets to take photos.

The display on the Find X8 Pro is a gorgeous one, subtly curving in on all four sides. It’s fast, smooth and responsive. It has thin bezels on all sides, making the content-viewing experience even better. But, the slight curves on the edges often have harsh reflections whenever I’m sitting under a tube light and this can get distracting.
That minor niggle aside, watching TV shows such as From and Suits was a fun affair with vivid and punchy colour reproduction. The display produced excellent deep blacks in eerie scenes from the former show. The entire experience is further elevated by the stereo speakers which get loud and offer good clarity.
Performance and Software
The MediaTek Dimensity 9400 SoC sits at the heart of the Find X8 Pro. While the X8 series was the first to introduce this chip in India, Vivo’s X200 series has now followed suit quickly. The Dimensity 9400 uses a 3nm fabrication process with claims for powerful performance and higher efficiency.

The phone flies through daily tasks with ease. Multi-tasking between multiple apps or switching between them is also neatly handled. In synthetic benchmarks, the Find X8 Pro does fairly well but is left behind by performance-focused smartphones like the iQOO 13 and Realme GT 7 Pro, both of which come with the Snapdragon 8 Elite. The Find X8 Pro fairs well when competing against the Vivo X200 Pro.
Gaming is also not a problem for the phone with BGMI offering HDR + Extreme as an option for 60fps gameplay. The phone handles the thermals and the game quite well with no problems. However, if gaming is your priority, the iQOO 13 will be a better option as it also opens up a 120fps option in BGMI.
The Find X8 Pro runs on ColorOS 15 based on Android 15 out of the box. It promises five years of software updates and six years of security patches, which is not as good as flagships from Samsung and Google, but is definitely a step in the right direction. But, the usual bloatware apps also come bundled with the phone.
ColorOS 15 offers the usual barrage of customisation options. It also introduces a theme-based lock screen wallpaper which offers the depth effect, previously seen on iPhones as well. You also get to play around with some new built-in icon packs and the usual fingerprint animations. If you are someone who often has fun customising stuff on their phone, you’ll find plenty to do here.
But, what I liked most was the ‘Share with iPhone’ feature. This opens up the walled garden for convenience. Just like Quick Share, this feature allows you to transfer photos and files with a single tap to an iPhone or iPad. The only pre-requisite here is that the iPhone user needs to install the O+ Connect app.
Besides this, you get a slew of AI features. The reflection remover and magic eraser tool works like a charm and is consistent most of the time. The rest of the AI toolbox which includes AI speak, AI writer and AI summary also functions properly but still needs a bit of polishing. The AI reply function works splendidly in WhatsApp chats, translating messages written in Hindi and sometimes also offering options in Hinglish.
Camera
No matter where you lay your eyes on the Find X8 Pro, you’ll always see a camera in your peripheral vision. It’s that loaded. The huge camera module at the back has four 50-megapixel cameras, two of which have telephoto lenses.
Cameras | Specifications |
Wide camera | 50-megapixel, Sony LYT808, 1/1.4’’, 23mm, f/1.6 (OIS) |
Ultra-wide camera | 50-megapixel, Samsung 5KJN5,1/2.75’’, 15mm, f/2.0 with autofocus |
Telephoto camera | 50-megapixel, Sony LYT600, 1/1.95’’, 73mm (3x), f/2.6 (OIS) |
Telephoto camera | 50-megapixel, Sony IMX858, 1/2.51’’, 135mm (6x), f/4.3 (OIS) |
Selfie camera | 32-megapixel, Sony IMX615, 1/2.74’’, 21mm, f/2.4 |
Video capabilities | 4K at 60fps for rear and front cameras |
With two telephoto periscope cameras at your disposal, the Find X8 Pro gives you the flexibility to experiment with angles and compositions. It’s a commendable achievement stacking these in the phone, one which also lets it take its zooming capabilities to the next level.
Straight off the bat, the Find X8 Pro has one of the fastest shutters. This allows you to capture fast-moving objects without losing out on important moments. The primary camera captures balanced and detailed images without any extra fluff. The dynamic range is kept in check with a fair amount of details in the shadows. The colours are just as they appear without any unnecessary boosting of the greens or the reds. The ultra-wide angle camera introduces a bit more contrast to the landscapes but also loses out on details in the shadows.
Both the 3x and 6x telephoto cameras were the most fun to mess around with. These offer better clarity, details and consistency than the Galaxy S24 Ultra and even the iPhone 16 Pro. Pair these lenses up with the portrait mode and your friends will make you the camera guy for the rest of the trip. The edge detection also works well, but there are inconsistencies when it comes to capturing skin tones. Two photos clicked in the same condition might give you different results. But, when it gets the processing right, which it does in most situations barring a few, the results are impressive. Both these lenses also work splendidly in low-light conditions, which is highly commendable.
Speaking of which, the lower aperture lets the sensor take in more light, so images in fairly dim conditions also appear quite good with very few grains. The Find X8 Pro also offers Master Mode for folks who don’t want to rely on the smartphone’s processing. It gives you a free hand with all the settings, but it also limits your zooming capabilities. This is a good segue to speak about the zoom levels.
The Find X8 Pro can go all the way up to 120x digital zoom. The phone also has a new feature called AI Telescope Zoom, which is automatically enabled once you cross 10x zoom. It’s basically a layer of AI that cleans up the photos, upscales them and increases clarity. Photos clicked in higher zoom levels need about a second to process before giving you a better output than what you would see in the viewfinder.
Battery and Charging
The Find X8 Pro is also a battery champ. It easily lasts an entire day and more despite heavy usage that consists of scrolling through Instagram, reading articles, watching videos, and more. It uses a silicone-carbon battery, as opposed to the lithium-ion ones you would find in most smartphones. Using this helps OPPO to maintain the slim structure of the phone while still increasing the capacity of the battery.
Battery | Specifications |
Capacity | 5910mAh |
PCMark Battery Test | 18 hours and 8 minutes |
Charger support | 80W SuperVOOC (in the box) |
Charging time (0-100%) | 43 minutes |
Wireless charging | 50W AirVOOC, 10W reverse wireless charging |
The phone lasted 18 hours and 8 minutes in the PCMark Battery Test, ranking it high in our datasheet. With the 80W SuperVOOC charger, it can take merely 43 minutes to fully charge again. You can also get a 50W AirVOOC if you want to wirelessly charge the phone.
Verdict
The OPPO Find X8 Pro is an excellent and perfectly balanced flagship phone. But, for Rs 99,999, it doesn’t come cheap. I think, offering another variant with lesser RAM would have also helped lower the starting price.
That said, with the Find X8 Pro, OPPO hasn’t cut many corners. It has a distinctive design and ergonomically sane form factor. The camera performance puts it on the top shelf, and the reliable battery life is just the cherry on top. The display is smooth and vivid and the performance is just as good. That said, it’s not perfect with room for improvements, especially with its Quick button and usual barrage of bloatware apps.
Regardless, if you want a camera-focussed smartphone this can be a great choice. If the camera isn’t your priority and you want to top the charts with benchmarks, you can also look at the Realme GT 7 Pro and the iQOO 13.
