Samsung’s flagship game began strong this year with the Galaxy S25 series launching in January, setting the tone for the rest of the year. But just when things seemed to settle, Samsung slipped in a surprise—the Galaxy S25 Edge. Sleek, featherlight, and every bit as premium, this one lives up to its name with a literal ‘edge’ over the rest.
I’ve had it in hand for a bit now, and spoiler alert: it’s an absolute eye-candy. But is there more to it than just good looks? Well, let’s find out in my first impressions.
Pricing and Availability in India
Samsung is offering the Galaxy S25 Edge in two configurations, and it will be available through the company’s official website.
Variant | Price |
12GB RAM + 256GB Storage | Rs 1,09,999 |
12GB RAM + 512GB Storage | Rs 1,21,999 |
Design and Display
The Galaxy S25 Edge is offered in two striking colours: Titanium Silver and Titanium JetBlack. I had a chance to try out the Silver version, and it’s dripping with full-on Poo energy. If Kareena’s iconic Poo were to craft a phone, this sleek, good-looking device would be her masterpiece. Yep, it is a fresh and bold smartphone that stands out in a sea of sameness.
From the moment I picked it up, I was struck by how incredibly slim and light it feels. At just 5.8mm thick and weighing 163 grams, it’s arguably the sleekest smartphone you’ll find in the market right now. Luxurious doesn’t even begin to describe how great it looks. But more importantly, it’s also given my wrists a break from unwieldy and big phones—I’m looking at you Ultras.
Of course, the Silver finish has its flaws; fingerprints show up readily, but that’s a minor nuisance when you’re wielding something that looks and feels this good. I just channel my inner Monica (from Friends) and give it a quick clean when needed.
The display is another strong suit, with narrow bezels that let the screen take center stage. The 120Hz refresh rate keeps interactions fluid and responsive, ensuring smooth scrolling and effortless navigation without a hint of lag.
The screen is bright and vibrant, be it indoors or outdoors, though a deeper dive awaits in the full review. For now, it’s safe to say that the Galaxy S25 Edge isn’t just another fish in the sea of smartphones; it’s the one that stands apart.
Hardware and Software
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy powers the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge—the very same powerhouse under the hood of the entire Galaxy S25 family. Samsung clearly isn’t cutting any corners here; even with its ultra-slim frame, this phone packs serious performance.
Using it has been a breeze. Whether I’m casually scrolling through Instagram memes, streaming my favourite music on YouTube, or juggling regular work tasks, the phone handles it all without breaking a sweat.
I haven’t yet put the S25 Edge through benchmark tests or pushed it with heavy gaming, but our full review will cover these things.
On the software side, it runs One UI 7 atop Android 15, just like its siblings. The customisation options are robust, and Samsung’s latest AI tools—like Call Assist, Writing Assist, Now Brief, and Interpreter, add thoughtful touches to everyday use.
But, the S25 Edge trades a bigger battery for its extremely slim form factor. With a 3,900mAh battery and support for 25W fast charging, the Galaxy S25 Edge keeps things modest on the power front. In a year where battery capacities are pushing boundaries, this choice feels surprisingly conservative. It’s also disappointing to see that Samsung has once again skipped out on Silicon Carbon batteries – something that brands like OnePlus, OPPO, and more have already jumped on.
It’s too early to comment on how long the phone will last in our real-world usage. So, we’ll cover this in the review after stress-testing it.
Cameras
The Galaxy S25 Edge comes equipped with a dual-camera system on the back: a 200-megapixel main sensor and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide. On paper, the setup is impressive—especially the inclusion of that massive 200-megapixel sensor, which has been carried over from the Galaxy S25 Ultra. It signals Samsung’s intent to deliver flagship-grade imaging, even in this slightly more streamlined variant.
That said, the absence of a dedicated telephoto lens at such a premium price point—Rs 1,09,999 is yet another questionable choice. For users who value optical zoom for portraits or distant subjects, this omission might feel like a missed opportunity. Especially, when you put camera-focused phones like Vivo X200 Pro, OPPO Find X8 Pro, and Xiaomi 15 Ultra into the same narrative.
It’s clear Samsung is drawing a line between the Edge and the Ultra, and the camera setup is one place where that difference shows.
On the front, there’s a 12-megapixel selfie camera that sticks to the tried and tested formula.
So far, the daylight photos have managed to leave a solid first impression—vibrant tones, balanced exposure, and a reassuring level of detail. But first impressions only go so far. To really understand what this camera is capable of, I’ll need to see how it performs across different lighting scenarios, especially in low light.
My Final Thoughts
At first glance, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge checks a lot of boxes—it’s stylish, remarkably slim, almost impossibly light, and packs a punch in terms of performance. On paper, it feels like a statement device. But specs and dimensions only tell part of the story.
That said, the S25 Edge finds itself in a dilemma—a dilemma caused by its own siblings. That’s because, at a lower price, both the S25 and S25 Plus offer more value as an overall package.
At Rs 1,09,999, it’s fair to ask: is the S25 Edge truly worth the premium, or does one of its siblings in the lineup offer a better balance? We’ll unpack all of that, and more, in our full review, so stay tuned.
