Boat has announced a partnership with Google Cloud to bring Google Gemini-powered AI features to its upcoming Crest AI lineup of smart audio devices. The new platform is designed to combine Boat's audio hardware with voice-driven, conversational AI that can understand context, complex queries and regional nuances in real time.
The Crest AI platform is Boat's new AI-powered platform for next-generation audio devices. Through the integration of Gemini Live, users will be able to have natural conversations with their audio devices, moving beyond traditional voice assistants towards more personalised, hands-free interactions.
Boat Crest AI Brings Gemini to Your Ears
The company says Crest AI is designed to make AI features more accessible to users across India's diverse languages and dialects. Using Google Cloud's infrastructure and the multimodal capabilities of Gemini Live on the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, the devices are designed to understand regional nuances, context and complex queries in real time.
According to Boat, the new platform will go beyond basic voice commands and support general voice queries, device control, music playback, productivity, language translation and FAQ support.
One of the more interesting aspects of Crest AI is its integration with Google Workspace. Boat says compatible audio devices will be able to work with services including Gmail, Google Tasks and Google Calendar through voice commands. This could allow users to perform productivity tasks without reaching for their smartphone. For example, users can ask the device to respond to an email or schedule a meeting through voice.
Boat is also introducing dedicated AI experiences as part of the Crest platform. Crest Translate will support real-time, two-way translation, allowing users to communicate across different languages.
Meanwhile, Crest Ask brings conversational intelligence to everyday listening. Boat says the feature can understand context and allow users to ask questions, learn, ideate or simply have a conversation using their audio device. The partnership with Google Cloud is intended to help Boat scale these AI experiences to millions of users across India, with a particular focus on voice and vernacular interactions.
Boat Crest AI Launch Details
Boat has not yet revealed the specific Crest AI devices, pricing or launch timeline. The announcement currently focuses on the platform and its partnership with Google Cloud.
The company says the Crest AI lineup will bring AI-powered capabilities directly to its audio devices, with the goal of making them more useful as hands-free companions rather than simply devices for listening to music and taking calls.
The Crest AI platform marks an interesting shift for Boat as it looks to make smart audio devices more than just headphones and earbuds. Integrating Gemini Live could allow users to interact with their audio devices conversationally, while Google Workspace integration gives the platform a practical productivity angle.
The most interesting part is the combination of Crest Translate, Crest Ask and Google Workspace integration. If Boat can deliver these features reliably through affordable audio products, it could make voice-based AI considerably more accessible in India.
However, Boat has not yet revealed the actual devices that will launch with Crest AI or their pricing. The real test will therefore come when the first Crest AI products arrive and users can see how naturally Gemini works through an everyday audio device.
