HARMAN has introduced Sing Drive, a new AI-powered in-car karaoke and sing-along platform designed to transform in-cabin entertainment into a more social and interactive experience. The platform integrates directly with a vehicle's infotainment and audio systems, allowing passengers to sing along to music from streaming platforms and personal libraries in real time.
Announced at Auto Shanghai 2026, Sing Drive combines AI vocal removal, digital signal processing, and vehicle-integrated microphones to create a karaoke experience designed specifically for automotive environments. HARMAN says the platform is production-ready and built to automotive-grade standards.
HARMAN Sing Drive Features
Sing Drive uses low-latency AI processing to separate vocals from songs in real time, allowing users to turn regular music tracks into karaoke sessions without relying on dedicated karaoke catalogues. Unlike mobile-based karaoke apps that depend on screen mirroring or external speakers, the platform is integrated directly into the vehicle's infotainment and audio systems. HARMAN says this improves stability, responsiveness, and audio quality during use.
The platform supports solo, duet, and group singing modes, with participation handled through integrated in-cabin microphones. HARMAN also says future implementations may support handheld microphones for expanded use cases. To improve voice clarity, Sing Drive includes echo cancellation and noise suppression technologies designed to maintain balanced vocals even in moving vehicles. The system also supports hands-free interaction and adaptive display modes intended to minimise driver distraction.
HARMAN says the platform can scale across different vehicle segments, allowing automakers to offer anything from lightweight sing-along functionality to full karaoke systems with synchronised lyrics and AI-driven features.
HARMAN Positions Sing Drive as OEM Differentiation Platform
According to HARMAN, Sing Drive is designed as part of its broader Branded Audio Experience Packages focused on enhancing in-cabin entertainment and passenger engagement.
Leonard Gregg, Sound Systems Product Manager at HARMAN International, said the platform is intended to turn everyday drives into more interactive and emotionally engaging experiences rather than limiting music consumption to passive listening.
The company also says Sing Drive gives OEMs a new way to differentiate cabin experiences as vehicles increasingly evolve into connected entertainment spaces. Sing Drive reflects a broader shift happening across the automotive industry where software-driven entertainment is becoming as important as traditional hardware features. While karaoke inside cars may sound niche initially, the combination of AI vocal processing, integrated premium audio systems, and social entertainment could become a meaningful differentiator for connected vehicles, especially in family-focused and premium segments.
