Apple has launched the new 14-inch MacBook Pro with its M6 chip in India, promising faster CPU and GPU performance, improved on-device AI capabilities and up to 24 hours of battery life. The updated laptop is aimed at students, developers, business professionals and content creators who need high performance for demanding workloads.
Apple MacBook Pro M6 Specifications and Performance
The new MacBook Pro is powered by Apple's M6 chip, featuring a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU. Apple claims the CPU includes the world's fastest CPU core, while the GPU delivers up to 30% faster graphics performance and up to 25% faster AI workloads compared with the M5.
The chip also features a Dual 16-core Neural Engine and Neural Accelerators integrated into each GPU core. Apple says the Neural Engine delivers up to 1.9 times faster performance than the M5, helping accelerate AI tasks such as image generation, image upscaling and local large language model processing.
For users upgrading from an M1-based MacBook Pro, Apple claims up to 11 times faster graphics performance and up to 13 times faster AI performance. The company also cites up to 2.5 times faster project build performance in Xcode compared with the 13-inch MacBook Pro with M1.
The laptop comes with 16GB of unified memory as standard, configurable up to 32GB, and supports memory bandwidth of up to 170GB/s. Apple says the combination is designed to improve multitasking and performance when working with demanding applications and large projects.
Apple claims the new 14-inch MacBook Pro delivers up to 24 hours of battery life, the longest battery life offered on a Mac so far. The company says users upgrading from Intel-based MacBook Pro models could gain up to 14 additional hours, while those moving from M1 models could get up to four additional hours.
The laptop supports fast charging, reaching up to 50% battery in around 30 minutes when paired with a compatible higher-wattage USB-C power adapter, such as Apple's 96W adapter.
Wireless connectivity has also been upgraded to Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. The laptop supports up to two external displays and includes three Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI, MagSafe 3, an SDXC card slot and a headphone jack.
The MacBook Pro features Apple's 14-inch Liquid Retina XDR display, with peak HDR brightness of up to 1,600 nits and a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. A nano-texture display option is available for users working in bright environments, where it can help reduce reflections and glare.
For video calls, the laptop includes a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera with Desk View support. Apple has also included a studio-quality three-microphone array and a six-speaker sound system with Spatial Audio.
The MacBook Pro is available in Space Black and Silver. Apple says the enclosure uses 100% recycled aluminium, while the laptop contains 45% recycled material overall.
The new MacBook Pro runs macOS 27, which introduces Siri AI and additional Apple Intelligence features across supported apps and system functions.
Apple says Siri AI can use personal context to help users find information across messages, emails and photos, answer questions and perform tasks across apps, while maintaining privacy protections. It is also integrated into Spotlight and system-wide context menus.
Other software additions include AI-powered photo editing, tab organisation in Safari and the ability to create Shortcuts automations using natural-language descriptions. Users can also customise the appearance of Liquid Glass through a new setting.
Apple MacBook Pro 14-Inch With M6 Price in India and Availability
The 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 starts at Rs 2,39,900 in India. Eligible students and educators can purchase it at a starting price of Rs 2,27,900.
Pre-orders opened on October 28 through Apple's online store and the Apple Store app. The laptop will begin arriving for customers and become available at Apple Store locations and authorised resellers from November 6. Apple's optional power adapters are priced at Rs 5,800 for the 70W model, Rs 8,900 for the 96W model and Rs 11,900 for the 140W model. The World Travel Adapter Kit costs Rs 4,900.
The M6-powered MacBook Pro focuses on three key areas: faster graphics, stronger on-device AI performance and longer battery life. The claimed improvements over M5 are relatively incremental in some workloads, but users upgrading from Intel-based or M1 Macs could see more substantial gains. At Rs 2,39,900, it remains a premium laptop, with its appeal depending on whether buyers need its processing power, professional display, extensive connectivity and ability to run supported AI workloads locally.
