Qualcomm is continuing its push beyond the laptop market with the introduction of a new desktop-class system powered by its Snapdragon X2 Elite platform. Announced at Computex 2026, the ASUS Ascent QN10 mini PC showcases how the company intends to bring its Arm-based PC architecture and AI capabilities into compact desktop machines.
The Snapdragon X Series has largely been associated with Windows laptops since its debut, but Qualcomm now appears to be positioning the platform as a broader computing solution. The Ascent QN10 combines the Snapdragon X2 Elite with a desktop-oriented form factor, targeting developers, creators, enterprise users and businesses looking to deploy AI workloads locally.
A major part of Qualcomm’s pitch centres on artificial intelligence. The Snapdragon X2 Elite integrates an NPU capable of delivering up to 80 TOPS of AI performance, allowing users to run AI models and AI-powered workflows directly on the device. Qualcomm specifically highlights applications such as local inferencing, AI agents, coding assistants and automation tools that can operate without relying heavily on cloud infrastructure.
The ASUS Ascent QN10 itself is housed in a chassis measuring less than 0.7 litres in volume. ASUS says the compact system is designed for modern workspaces where desk space is limited, while still offering the connectivity required for professional workflows. The mini PC includes seven USB ports, including USB4 connectivity, and is intended to support everything from software development environments to multi-display business deployments.
Qualcomm also sees opportunities beyond traditional office use. According to the company, the Snapdragon X2 Elite platform is suitable for digital signage, enterprise deployments and always-on commercial applications that can benefit from the platform’s power efficiency and integrated AI capabilities.
While Intel and AMD continue to dominate the desktop PC market, the launch of the Ascent QN10 suggests Qualcomm is preparing to compete in more than just the notebook segment. Pricing and availability details for the new mini PC have not yet been announced.
