Poco has expanded its M-series smartphone lineup in India with the launch of the Poco M8 Power, a new budget smartphone that puts battery life at the center of the experience. Built around the brand's "Power Your Binge" philosophy, the handset combines an industry-leading 8,000mAh Silicon-Carbon battery, a 120Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset, and long-term software support to appeal to users who spend hours streaming, gaming and browsing on their phones.
Poco M8 Power Specifications And Features
The biggest highlight of the Poco M8 Power is undoubtedly its 8,000mAh Silicon-Carbon battery, one of the largest batteries currently available in a mainstream smartphone. Poco says the phone has been designed for uninterrupted entertainment, allowing users to stream content, scroll through social media and play games for extended periods without worrying about running out of charge.
Backing the large battery is Xiaomi's Surge G1 Battery Management Chip, which helps optimize charging and battery health. The device also supports 45W fast charging, with the compatible charger included in the box, while 22.5W reverse wired charging allows the phone to double as a power bank for charging compatible accessories and other devices.
To complement its battery-focused approach, the Poco M8 Power features a 6.9-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, DCI-P3 wide colour gamut, a 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and up to 1,800 nits peak brightness. The display also includes TÜV-certified eye protection, Wet Touch 2.0 support and an optical in-display fingerprint scanner, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor usage.
Under the hood, the Poco M8 Power is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 Mobile Platform, built on a 4nm process. It comes with up to 8GB RAM, supports an additional 8GB virtual RAM, and offers 128GB of internal storage. The phone also gets Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection, along with 5G connectivity, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1 and an IR Blaster.
For photography, the Poco M8 Power sports a 50MP Dual AI rear camera equipped with features like Film Filters, Dynamic Photos, Pro Mode, Time-lapse, Panorama, Document Mode and Voice Shutter. On the front, there's an 8MP selfie camera that supports Video Beauty, Fill Light and a built-in Teleprompter, catering to users who frequently create content or attend video calls.
The smartphone ships with Xiaomi HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. Poco has also committed to four years of Android software updates and six years of security patches, which is among the longer update promises in this segment and should add value for buyers planning to keep the device for several years.
Price and Availability
The Poco M8 Power comes in two storage variants. The 6GB + 128GB model is priced at Rs. 24,999, while the 8GB + 128GB variant costs Rs. 27,999. During the first 12 hours of sale, buyers can avail a Rs. 1,000 coupon discount along with a Rs. 2,000 instant bank discount or exchange bonus, bringing the effective launch prices down to Rs. 21,999 and Rs. 24,999, respectively. The smartphone will go on sale via Flipkart starting August 7.
Battery capacity has become one of the biggest battlegrounds in the smartphone market, and the Poco M8 Power takes that trend a step further with its 8,000mAh Silicon-Carbon battery. While many brands continue to focus on thinner designs, Poco is clearly betting that users would rather have a phone that comfortably lasts through long gaming sessions, binge-watching marathons and heavy daily usage. If the real-world battery life lives up to the promise and the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 delivers a smooth everyday experience, the M8 Power could stand out as one of the most compelling battery-focused smartphones in its segment.
